Urban Gentry MIA?

Post by koimaster » February 5th 2019, 12:53pm

There is some speculation that the Urban Gentry has been removed from youtube although the last post was last month.

The video in the thread below comments that he may have had his channel cancelled and that it has been de-monetized but I still see ads in the vids.

of course our buddy Archie comes into view as well.

God almighty. Another YouTube "celebrity" that points a webcam at himself, and WIT Nation schedules a national day of mourning. As Firesign Theater once mused, I think it's time to sanction stupidity as the official American national pastime.

This may have something to do with a copyright feud between TGV and another YouTuber:

The entire thread:
https://forums.watchuseek.com/f2/urban-gentry-4881977.html

The specific page, where the owner of the material that TGV used without his consent comes in to explain a few things...
https://forums.watchuseek.com/f2/urban-gentry-4881977-27.html

...but gets censored by Oberfeldwebel Hans-Heinz Helmut von Bo from OKWUS.

I thought of inviting the fellow (not the Oberfeldwebel, obviously - that Gerald) to us, the Lords who won't stand for jackboot moderation and censorship, but since he's a YouTuber, there's a possibility that he'd get out of here faster than he got in.

Gerald is also quick on dispatching the TGV defenders:

Now.

Please do explain just why it is you find this so interesting, and what it is that is motivating you to lecture me on how I should allow my work to be used, and what I should do when I discover my rights being infringed?

The standard pattern emerges in all those threads. Someone always sees the other side, no matter how plain the issue is, and then think its ok to tell those involved what they should have done instead.
Meritocracy: the privilege, wealth and advancement of those who chose their parents wisely.
Capitalism: a cult that promised to do good for the worst reasons.
Nationalism: a profound longing to go back to a past that never existed.

Invite him over. Anyone who does not like UG or Archie cannot be all bad.

I am going to become won of those EweTuber influencer people and make big dollars.

I shall be "The Urban Shitter." Will offer my expert opinion on all things related to poop.

I can do a bad English accent as good as anybody; does that mean I should do a "watch channel" on Ewe Toob and rake in the money? Fuck that shit.

I agree with Temerity on this; if you have something to say (like a watch review that consists of words and some pictures), feel free to post it here or on some other forum. If, on the other hand, you feel you have to make a video about it, go fuck yourself. I don't have the time to watch your intellectual whacking off.

I’ll invite Gerald to the forum, then. If he has the evidence and the will to expose TGV, he’s OK as far as I’m concerned.

Never heard of the guy, but then again, I'm usually wrapped up with automotive & firearms stuff.

So what makes this you-tuber a subject matter expert?

Who, TGV or the Gerald fellow?

If TGV, nothing makes him an expert, he isn’t one. He’s a narcissistic, obtuse David Niven wannabe with an extraordinarily inflated ego and delusions of nobility.

If you mean the Gerald fellow, I don’t bloody know, I didn’t watch a single video of his. If he does get to join here, three things can happen:
1. We’ll see some TGV stick, and that’s it. Possibly the guy could be Lord material, as noted earlier.
2. We’ll make a WIS out of a YouTuber, which will be a miracle, something that puts walking on water to shame.
3. He’ll try to BS us, put his head through the drywall, and then you and Conj will have another opportunity to take a trip to the Pine Barrens, with the yewtoober in the boot of the Caddy.

You got any lime? I'm fresh outta lime over here.

I used all of mine for ice melt. Man, I can't wait to see what Del Monacos's winter cocktail line-up is this year.

I stopped by there the other day because I was in the neighborhood and wanted to think about better times. I had the shrimp cocktail. And, it was fucking fine.

I've watched some of UG videos, and that Archie Luxury fellow. Archie cracks me up with his crazy bullshit, and can be a lil entertaining, but only for a little while. After that I gotta move on. TGV on UG is a lil girly wristed fellow, his words not mine. I watch his videos for the watches. He does some fairly thorough reviews that have been helpful. His accent and family history I take with a grain of salt. Anybody can be anyone on the internet. And, I have no damn clue who he really is. It's obvious most of the current watch channels on youtube do most of their content to make money.

At least they can still make money with youtube. Most all the gun channels got demonetized. The anti gunners have had their way with them, and their content. So, I watch them over at Full30.

Yeah, Tom. It was a joke!! You see, it was Burt Lancaster who starred in Elmer Gantry. Burt Young played Rocky's brother-in-law in Rocky. It was funny because Burt Lancaster was very handsome, but Burt Young was a short fat guy who chewed dead cigars.

Heard back from the Gerald fellow - by the way, not a YouTuber, I got that wrong. The guy's a photographer by trade, and a pretty serious collector of vintage Grand Seikos:

The copyrighted material that TGV has used without his permission were photos from his Instagram account. In response to the videos being taken down from TGV's channel, TGV tried to...claim Fair Use with YouTube. A channel that monetized, claiming "fair use!" Cheeky bastard.
Meanwhile, according to Gerald, within the time that YouTube had to process the Fair Use claim, they have not allowed the videos to get back on the channel, and so they're unlikely to return there.
