Futher proof of the decline of Western civilization: A watch website that seeks out and interviews the amateurs that post YouTube videos.

I'm not kidding. Bezelous.com (?) is yet another site that just magnifies everything that's wrong with the Interweb - edited by something called "Adam," - lots of "I, me, my," a real gernilist - the site posts Phluff-like reviews of mostly mid-tier watches, as well as "Swiss Army knives, Opinel knives and Parker pens," according to its opening page. Also claims that some posts are "sponsored." One can only imagine that this thing is probably close to what Jim Skelton would have come up with his Man Beast or Alpha Mega site or whatever tasteless name he would have bestowed it, had it ever developed.

The amazing thing about Bezelous (unreal) are the supposedly serious interviews with people who post YouTube watch reviews out of their mother's basements and the like, such as Andy Hunter ("famed" for his early Invicta rant where he mispronounced the name of the brand constantly), Armand The Watch Guy (???), The Urban Gentry, a few others I'm not going to waste energy while I'm on this planet to push a button to view ... and, of course, Archie Luxury.

I'm going to link this to the Archie interview (the site even claims to have paid Archie for the interview); pay particular attention to the comments section, where it's revealed that Archie, during his international travels where he begs online for spending money, apparently posted some rather unsavory videos as well as claimed to do something I don't even want to repeat here. Archie isn't just annoying - I'm starting to think there's a real problem here.

There are some real douchebags in this hobby, and apparently, most of them end up on YouTube, where everyone is an "expert' and nobody's accountable for a fucking thing. Bezelous.com is just about the most disgusting watch-related website I could ever imagine; it's like intentionally going wading in a street puddle.

This fucking jerk actually did a blog entry about unboxing a Vostok Amphibia, which is like posting your first blowjob from a crack whore on Xhamster.

Anyway, a couple of thoughts about T's very fine OP:

1. It's well known that Archie will spread his very ample ass cheeks quite eagerly for anybody willing to pony up the dosh. Indeed, he'll happily grab his ankles for, say, five bucks Australian.

2. One of the more depressing things about bookselling is the kind of books one has to sell. Right now in biographies, the biggest book is Ron Chernow's very thick book about Hamilton--which may well supplant Ayn Rand as the most purchased/least read author, at least until the unspeakably awful show closes on Broadway. In a close second are a bunch of autobios written by teenage boys who are called--apparently without a trace of irony--youtubers. These non-threatening teen boys have become famous (I'm told) because they post very many Youtube videos that teen girls watch. As with 99% of Youtube videos, they document the grinding boringness of adolescent angst. The youtubers are the boy bands of the present day, contributing nothing apart from perhaps introducing teen girls to the joys of self-abuse, which might not be a totally bad thing.

In this thing of ours, it used to be you'd get a watch, you'd wear it for awhile, then you'd take some pics and slap together a review--mine have always been written, but some prefer video, which is cool. Then, others would read/view the reviews and perhaps make a decision on getting the same watch (or not). It wasn't about us, it was about the watches--except for Ariel Adams and John Holbrook, but they don't fucking count. Now, it's about Archie's head warts and some schlemial's unboxing of a Commie watch.

Tell me about it. Bezelous is everything this hobby shouldn't be. Any minute now the moke who runs it will probably interview Demple for his "insights." And I bet Skelton is jealous since, to this point, they've ignored his Five-Minute John House Jamboree entirely - as has, of course, everyone else.

Almost as if to suggest that the world hasn't gone totally nuts I find that Joanne TechLover and her very fine computer tutorials have her closing in on 100,000 subscribers.

Contrasting to the 1,300 subscribers for 5 Minute Watch Review partially restores my faith in humanity.

Then again I am sitting at home after spending the morning with a dentist and am in a most pleasant hydrocodone haze presently which might explain my uncharacteristic enthusiasm with the human race.

I tend to think that specific video is aptly named insofar as how NOT to do something. I was and remain under the impression that AMSA Massage is one of those all the way, 100%, legit massage parlors of which Bangkok actually has no shortage.

Then again some other videos might live up to the reputation but I don't have the stomach to click on them to find out. But this particular one is the sort of video an annoying twit would shoot between rounds at the Down Under Bar and Grille which happens to be adjacent to AMSA.

He's about a new kind of idiot but if he's saying out loud that he's actually nailing underage hookers it would be taking it to a whole new level.
