Dad's new Hamilton (TRADE)

Post by smellody » February 10th 2018, 3:44pm

Some of the closer Lords will know that my Dad was afflicted with the Invicta bug. He would buy the styles he liked and amassed more wartches than DirtyBox could wear out in three life times.

Unfortunately, Dad bought quartz and bought offen.

Recently, not wanting to bug me, Dad has been using CL to trade Invicters for whatever the masses have to "offer up."

Last week a chap in his late 80s contacted Dad to make a trade. He had an "old running Hamilton that he had replaced the band on." He had offered it to his grandson, but his grandson wanted a "proper" watch like the picture of the Invicta dad posted on CL.

The old guy met Dad in the Macy's parking lot and traded his XXXXL Speedway or "whatever" for:

It is 14GF and the case is perfect!

Dad was down at my place the last few days. The crystal was very scratched:

I went at the acrylic crystal four times with my thumb and toothpaste:

Nice Hamilton. Runs accurately for about 36 hours.

Nice job Dad!

Looks like a 1940s Emerson, most likely with the 980 inside:

The odd thing is, I only found it in a 10ct gold-filled version, can't find a 14ct gold filled version anywhere.

You cannot explain away a wantonly immoral act, because you think that it is connected to some higher purpose.

Have it serviced and it will probably run well for years. That crystal will clean up a bit more with some poly watch.

If there's a guy in the PacNW that's cooler than Dr. Smells--and that's a pretty tall order--it's Dr. Smells' dad, who's so cool he could fuck up Steve McQueen with a tire bat and then go for pizza.
I find tv watches to be like the guys who raise their truck you need a fricken ladder to get in. It’s a attempt to look cool... that’s all.
