I keep trying to convince myself I like the blue variant better because it comes with with a Super Ti bracelet at about same price as black one but so far no dice. A little less than 500 USD is possible at the moment.

Ti is nice. The hands are not really my thing and the unprotected crown and partial bezel indexing are a negative for me

The hands with the block indices seem incingruous but apparently that is modeled of the 1970s original.

Some people have termed it the Roleiko.
Interesting choice given it is neither a Rolex or a Seiko! :chump:

Not bad in the $500 range.
That seems to sum it up for this one.

Apparently there was a lot of expectation in the WIS community when first announced that this was going to be a Seiko Prospex killer. However, once a lot got it in their hands there was some disappointment that while not bad for a 500 USD diver, it wasn’t a Prospex killer due to any number of nits.

I would have to agree. The SBDC171 can be had for 700 USD and this Citizen does not seem as fine a watch overall.

IMO, the NB1050 released prior to the fujitsubo was a tough act to follow, as it immediately got raves from WIS community about punching above its weight class in execution regardless of what one thought of its style for a 400 USD watch.

So people were expecting the same from the fujitsubo and it turned out to be an ok watch for its price class. So there was a lot of letdown it seems.

The NB1050 is really nice and can be gotten gor 350
USD these days. The duratec platinum coating is quite nice, nondarkening. That raised male portion on the endlink is a separate applied piece rather than milled keeping the lines on it nice and sharp.

Much better than not bad IMO. Super Titanium and Duratect Platinum for 25% less than a Seiko, and I prefer a 90xx to anything 4r.

I personally agree on those points. Interestingly the Ti worked to the disadvantage of the piece. A major gripe is that the bezel felt tinny and cheap due to its lack of mass. But this is in the weave for any Ti diver, you just have to ynderstand that but apparently many people dont
