On the way: Citizen NB1050-59A

Post by anonymous-3027 » December 30th 2022, 1:23pm

These are super mpressive imo, and filling a niche Seiko has left empty recently

The sub 500 USD baby Grand Seiko

The deep polished rehaut is killer on these and the dial is a satiny silver so it definitely tends to a cool white rather than a creamy one

For 384 USD via slow boat from Japan

The male end link is commented on a lot

Apparently the center portion is an applied piece rather than a milled effect which gives it enhances the sharp cut look

My SARB inventory at the moment is SARB001, SARB045, and SCVS003, which is a precursor to SARB033

And the head can work with all sorts of straps and bracelets. It’s pretty universal

I’m thinking it would look nice on a maroon lizard strap

Paired with the rumpled Oxford and chinos

Classic. Nobody does business watches better than Seiko and Citizen. 9011 inside is sweet. Great value, too.
They still have a domestic market of 20-30 million salarymen for whom business dress remains conservative as ever

Black/navy suit white shirt tie business watch etc

This was officially a JDM model but that doesn’t mean much anymore other than the design intent was a domestic target demographic

I like it. While it doesn't exactly make my dick engorged, it's an honest design and, being a Citi auto, no doubt very well made.

This is a nicer shot showing some of the detailing. Aftermarket bracelet

I have liked this brand for years, but the name is off putting. Somehow I think Comrade
Now don’t get riled up. The best watch on this scale was a perpetual I bought years ago… then sold to a friend who had his dad ask for it. Yeah, figured I could replace it, but the forums started crashing and prices escalated. I really miss that watch. Was a signature edition.
Oh, what watches we sold and now regret
This one reminds me why I love mechanicals
Lovely

So this arrived yesterday and it’s a nice piece at 384 USD.

Excellent fit finish. The dial is a completely matte silver, so prevents as off white

No crown sig but personally I dont care

The only cheap watch feel is the finishing on the edges of the bracelet, which otherwise is very nice, the end link fitment is Rolex grade, not the tiniest bit of play

But the edges of the bracelet are a little sharp, could be rounded over more for comfort and luxo feel

I may have my watch guy do that. That gave me another idea, watch could use a bit more pizazz, maybe polish the center links while I’m at it.

Never have done that before, actually not at all a watch mod guy, but seriously considering it here

Stunning watch
I’m sitting here studying the dial and it’s pretty cool

As the light gets lower it becomes more grey getting out to battleship gray

That’s pretty cool

I’m meh on bracelet, and when I bought it I thought it would look great on maroon lizard or maybe tan ostrich

The head is really neutral so some drama in straps. The bracelet is meh tbh.

Ok this watch is great but the bracelet is a little uninspiring

And then I remembered I have a 19mm bespoke Jean Rousseau strap. Super exotic materials but I can’t remember

Cost a pile too, long story about it, esp why it has rained unused for years. The 19mm width is part of it

Anyhow Im guessing this will look great on the Citizen

Oh yeah, wow. About a hundred times better! Perfect IMO.
The bracelet is an exercise in a complete lack of imagination. But even that aside, I’m thinking the head might generally work better on a strap than a bracelet

Citizen may have also have concluded this. The follow on versions, NB1060, same case just different dial colors and hands, come on straps not bracelets
