Compared with Citi's Eco-drive, which has never failed not to fail on me, I'd take a Seiko every day of the week.

Really? I've had a few Eco-Drives now. They've all been uncannily reliable and seem indestructible.
Citizen left Seiko behind years ago IMO.

I have had Mr Conjurers experience. Several of my Citizens eco-drives have failed. All my Seiko Solar divers are still working. In fact, to date, I have never had a Seiko movement of any kind fail on me.jason_recliner wrote: ↑September 16th 2024, 10:57pmReally? I've had a few Eco-Drives now. My experience also. Have 2 from 2010 that have never had the back off and still running perfectly and another newer one 5 years old. No bad experience with Seiko either but just have not been a big fan for some reason. Maybe everyone coming back from Viet Nam having one did it.jason_recliner wrote: ↑September 16th 2024, 10:57pm

NRPI and Shitheel here.

If I am to be insulted I must first value your opinion.

My first Eco drive chronograph crapped out so I replaced the capacitor and it worked great.
For a year. And then it crapped out again.
I have three other Eco-drives that run like a Swiss watch… or a German car… or something that works really well.
Hell, even my first Eco drive technically still works.
Until the sun sets… then you’re on your own.

Years ago, I sent in an old Eco-Drive Minute Repeater to Citizen and they put a new capacitor and movement in at no charge. Rep said they have a lifetime warranty on the capacitors (at that time).

Never a problem on any citizen, though I haven’t owned many. < 10
Way more Seikos. Only issue was a first gen Kinetic failed on me like they did on everyone

Good point. I forgot about the kinetic. That was a bad show.WISenheimer wrote: ↑September 17th 2024, 5:59pmNever a problem on any citizen, though I haven’t owned many. < 10

Regarding Citi Ecos, I've only owned a few, and all of them failed--I always assumed it was just me, and that normal people (viz, non-WISs), wearing them every day, had no issues. There are probably way more Eco movements ticking away out there than any other movement.
