Rolex has finally broken silence on a programme to wrap its arms around the pre-owned market, allowing customers to buy watches that have been checked for their working condition, certified as authentic by the brand (or qualified authorised dealers) and sold with a Rolex two-year international guarantee.

They continue to strengthen their position(s) in the watch markets, it seems..

Very interesting.... I wonder if they will find stock. Will second hand cost more than first time ownership?

A little know fact, the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow of the 1970's was in such demand that the waitlist forced buyers to the second hand market. Used cars with 20k miles or more were selling for a third to 50% premium over new cars.

This is an interesting move and quite sensible move consistent with their biz strategy, which among other things is fully owning and protecting the integrity of the bramd.

Given the increasing sophistication of fakes and Rolex being a prime target of such, I’d happily buy a certified Rolex.

It’s a good move IMO.
