Great read. What a wonderful life, doing what he obviously has loved, making a shit ton of cash while doing it and diving with that watch on, like it is a $200 Seiko.

Great story.

Can the case be solid gold? Wouldn't that deform?

I haven't had any experience with using gold.

Solid piece of gold of 18k gold. No deformation. The 1680/8 has the same 200M depth rating as the stainless 1680 version.

I used my 18k Daytona as my snorkel watch in Maui for a week. Went at least 12 feet down. No problems.
