Hey catnap!

Just visiting from TZ forum in the UK - sorry you had to be inflicted with that arse (he's been pulling the same crap on our forum), but just wanted to say that the last couple of true tossers on TZUK were American! Made me chuckle to see that you guys get it from the English.

I guess that the true basement dwelling trolls are global these days.

Anyway, fun forum you have here. I look forward to having a mooch around. Have a good one.

Any friend of catnap's is a friend of mine. Haven't seen him around much lately so kick him in the ass if you see him around. Etiquette around here likes you to have a intro post. It may save some unwanted grief. Welcome.

Would love to claim friendship with catnap, and you never know, but I'm afraid this is my first visit to your forum and I can't claim it yet! Ass kicking will have to await a formal introduction.

I just saw his post re. the English when viewing with amusement dirtboxden's trainwreck on your site and had to respond :-)

Intro post duly left by the way. Have a good one!

<edit> just noticed catnap is in the UK, I'll pm him to see if I know him by another handle.

Thanks for digging this thread up, Bo! Alas, dirtbox ending up putting his head through the drywall, so me and Cod had to drive him out to the Pine Barrens in the WL Cadillac "work car" and "drop him off." However, he did provide us with hours minutes of mirth, using his strangely compelling method of posting, i.e.:

whats wrong with you spastic planks im hoping youll all die so I can sodomite youre ugly wifes with cooking fat you fucking cocks.

A very lovely chap indeed. We haven't quite got rid of him at TZUK yet, but it won't be long. He keeps melting down like an inarticulate honey badger, before reverting to whiney and 'it's all you lot ganging up on me, I'm nice really'. I genuinely fear for the mental health of people like that.

TZUk, been a member there for years as have several others here. Kip is a member here and helped with the CW interview over the summer.

Hell, if there aren't ads and moderators all over the place inside a week I will be gobsmacked.

My goodbye to the place for all practical purposes. Responded to your PM over there as well.

I wish you the best Eddie and to your Carol as well. It is hard to be a caretaker even in the best of times. I started the Watchlord forum in 2009 using this site as the starting point. Thanks for all you have done over the years.

As to Verticalscope, well one only needs to look at the watch forums they have taken over and the spam resulting from it. From the Seiko forums to watch talk forum to Watchuseek, to watchfreeks, all have changed and IMVHO, not for the better.

Again Eddie, my best wishes to you and the family.

If it goes like WUS, VS will put in charge a small group of salad-tossers who will act as their jackbooted thugs. Their small amount of power will go to their heads and executions will commence.

Pretty sure that there will now be a tumbril with my name on it too - c'est la vie.

Bloody shame though. Best forum I've been involved with for many years, massive depth of knowledge and (whilst a few dicks present of course) generally speaking, nice people.

It just goes to show that, with the exception of a few rare harbours run by enthusiasts such as this site, if something is free on t'internet then you are the product.

Hate to see sites like this monetised. The only (and best) exception that I know of that has managed to break the rules is a British (London-centric) fixed gear cycling site LFGSS where the site owner uses it to fine tune the best forum software I've come across, and the software is the product rather than the members. Perversely it was the 'watches and horology' thread on that site that pushed my buttons to learn more about our hobby.

It was nice to see you stand up and state your piece koimaster but I reckon the die is cast for TZUK.

......minutes silence please......

This forum is for the members period. It is supported by them, the direction of the forum is dictated and corrected by them. It is predicated on the notion that adults should be treated as such, not simpletons who should be corrected, disciplined and shamed because a sponsor or some limp dick mod is offended. It has been that way since the beginning on December 16th, 2009 when we went live and the people you see in the dark red names took a chance to join a forum founded by a "hater', a term I embrace. We have a wealth of knowledge here also, long term WIS and not so long term. When I was gone last year due to illness, the members ran the place, not really knowing what happened to me but it was still here when I was able to get back. Not many places can say that.

As to TZUK, the change will be slow at first but quickly escalate so that in a year or so, what will be left is a shell of what it was. I hope I am wrong though.

Sad but true. Hate to give Dirtbox props, but he beats pacerguy hands down.

Noticed dirtboxden, despite a prior ban, is now showing up as online?

Is this where all the plank references came from originally?
FWIW I think it's real.

I was referring to Accutronitis mentioned by beau nidle but yes, this is the origin of plank, among other references, most of which I quoted here. Dirtbox was real it seems.
