Back patio pizza

Post by Mark1 » February 5th 2023, 9:52am

I've spent a fair bit of time down the Youtube rabbit hole recently. One of the topics I stumbled across is home pizza ovens. You've got gas, pellet, and wood fired options for the most part. I decided to try the wood fired variety. I went with a reasonably priced model because it will either get used regularly thus inspiring an upgrade or just take up space in the garage. So you put in charcoal and wood for smoke and it heats the pizza stone up to about 800 degrees. Actually surprised the thing got up to temp in around 15 minutes. At this temp it takes about 3 or 4 minutes to cook the pizza. It is necessary to rotate the pizza every 45 seconds or so. There was enough dough to make three pizzas and all tolled they took less than 20 minutes. I took some pictures of the first one. Pizza is supposed to be round you say-that's not how I roll. Stretching the dough was the hardest part. Still need to tweak the dough recipe though, it tasted fine but I like the crispy cracker style variety and this was chewy which some people prefer. Youtube has videos on that so I'll keep trying. Aside from pizza I'm looking forward to searing some steaks in cast iron @800 degrees, always worry about setting off the smoke alarm doing this in the house.

Ain't nothing wrong with that. Total win.
Meritocracy: the privilege, wealth and advancement of those who chose their parents wisely.
Capitalism: a cult that promised to do good for the worst reasons.
Nationalism: a profound longing to go back to a past that never existed.
