Mido Dives Deep With the Ocean Star 600 Chronometer Black DLC Special Edition

https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-in ... l-edition/

I like these — COSC cert Powermatic 80 with Si balance spring, ceramic bezel, lacquer dial, DLC case and bracelet and also includes a rubber strap.

Yeah, that's nice enough. Doesn't seem to be doing anthing new though. Not sure why it's needed. In all seriousness, what is Mido, what does it stand for? I don't make any connection between Mido and diving whatsoever. The Commander is so cool, especially the old lugless Datodays, with so many cool typefaces. The All Dial is pretty good. Why does every brand need to have a luxury dive watch? It's not like Mido is an independent manufacturer needing to sell as many watches as possible just to stay afloat - it's a name printed on a Swatch. Why not just produce a core line of Commanders, some All Dials maybe, maybe a high end Multifort line (if you must, although surely Swatch's 15 other brands would cover that somewhere), and that's it? Leave the dive watches to Hamilton, Tissot and Omega. Or just Omega.

Not a bad looking watch.

But stay away from black DLC painted wartches 3F, I've heard that stuff could chip off .
Think I read it in a watchlords post or two.
I like it — I think it's a good value — I'm pretty sure I wouldn't buy it but a it's a great watch so I figgerred I'd post it. IIRC, I did say that I might try the SINN version of DLC depending on how conj's held up. I would not however, ever consider PVD coatings. I have though somehow found the strength to keep the faith that I will someday find a black watch whose finish I could not turn to shit.

I've worn the Sinn U50 pretty heavily for nearly a year now, and the only marks on it are a slightly shiny mark from where the clasp's safety seats down--which you can't see when wearing it. Granted, the DLC is a $200 upgrade from the non-DLC tegimented steel. Otherwise, there's not a scratch anywhere that I can see.

A special edition black dial and black dlc case…..wow, who thought of such a unique combo?
Something not ordinary and common. Way to take on the competition head on and go vanilla. :5wrew:

If they can’t be bothered to do something nice and different, I can’t be bothered to buy it. Bring something to the table other than “special edition”.
In memory of TB/Phfluff, since he isn’t here to continue to give his praise, I will share it for him.
