Cool things from Japan in 1975 include the innovative twin-can 3 valve-per-cylinder Civic engine that Honda deployed long before Nissan (1988) and also Mercedes-Benz (1996) used a similar path for their production engines due to the combination of increased power over a 2v engine, increased economy over a 4v engine, and a reasonably generous torque curve.

And, also from 1975 Japan, this Seiko Bellmatic!

The Asian take on The Cricket… though no hack or hand wind on the automatic movement. The crown winds the alarm, the 2:00 pusher sets the date, though when pulled ‘activates’ the alarm.

I don’t know. It might even wake you up.

But, if you gotta be somewheres - like on time for a legitimate business meeting with people who don’t want to be just waiting around, or whatever, you know… I’d still recommend having the front desk call your room at 5:30, 5:45, 6:15 and 6:45a.m., just to be safe.
