So I planned to lay a 4'x4' slab outside each of our patio back doors, "the easy way," with Quickcrete Walkmaker. Each 2x2 foot section requires 80# concrete.
Had to till up about three inches of soil to get the stones at the same height as the slab. Thank God for an electric tiller.
Managed to get down a 4x2 section, trimmed the edge to make it 3'x2'. Fuck it. Has been all all day affair. Haven't mixed concrete since I was a teenager, now I remember why.
I may expand it when the weather is cooler and do the west entry then, also. For now the concrete is curing and I am going to have to deal with a mud pit until the grass grows back.
There is a reason professional contractors come at a premium.
If I survive doing this, if I ever mention working with concrete again, someone come down here and slap the shit out of me.
At several points I just lay in the cool earth awaiting loss of consciousness in the 95° heat. Bet I sleep well tonight.
