Tissot - PRS 516: A New Twist On An Old Idea

Post by Nuvolari » June 27th 2020, 9:17pm

I’ve always admired Tissot from afar, but had never been inclined to vote with my wallet.

Recently, though, I had a hankering for a watch I had seen years ago that had retro-grade seconds hand(s). Hell, it may even have even been an Alpha, but I haven’t been able to find anything that fits the bill...

Then, one fine day, I’m browsing Tissots, looking through T-Touches, even though I’m trying to largely steer clear of quartz movements... and I just happen to find something interesting at a price that made it impossible to ignore... so I didn’t.
I was not a huge fan of the band it came on, even though it came with a deployment clasp, the leather was plain black rally with black stitching.
As it turns out, both the Panatime rally strap with contrasting red and the watch both arrived today. I like it when that happens.

The finishing on the case is quite nice. What looks like scratches here are gross armhairs

Interesting design. How does that second hand work?? It makes me want to drive fast and take chances.
Just as the originals did back in the sixties!

...and Bond in 'Live And Let Die' in the seventies, the missing 'Bond watch', the PR516.
