Hoodwinkee Hypez Fashun Wartches

Post by MKTheVintageBloke » August 12th 2019, 3:24pm

Now that's a new thing for the Donkeys to do...

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-m ... -ivory-oak
MVMT, which was founded a mere six years ago, in 2013, is due partly to savvy design, partly to accessible pricing
Better stuff to be found for the money, and their design, usually resulting in an illegible watch, sucks cock.
Much of the evolution of MVMT watches was also guided by input from clients and potential clients
That'd mean that the customers' evolution drives us right back to the Neanderthal stage, if not to that of earlier hominids.
and the highly accessible pricing of MVMT watchs
Ughhh...are you sure your name ain't Stephen?
entry level models are still under $100
Stop hyping that dreadful shit. Any Timex will do better, for even less.
plus the sense of participation many of the brand's fans felt
#beadonkey #jointheherd
I quite frankly didn't find the watches or the brand particularly interesting at first glance, but when I saw them in person for the first time at Davos, they made an impression in a way I wasn't expecting.
When I saw them in person and held them in my hands, they have proven themselves to be every inch the pile of fucking rubbish I expected them to be. And there goes the guy who's verbally choking the chicken to Pateks, Rolexes and Grand Seikos, claiming this fashionista sodding lot of pish and bollocks to be impressive?
Image
The automatics especially seemed interesting
Yes, that Ruhla-ish finishing on a Miyota 821A certainly is interesting.
...I ended up feeling like quite a lot of value was being offered...
Not even worth it for the scrap metal value.
...by what I'd initially dismissed as a mass-market hipster (whatever that means) brand...
It means that it's frequently bought by people drinking gluten-free soya latte, who also happen to enjoy reading Karl Marx, knock over trash cans, and wearing the sort of trousers that women used to wear in the late 1990s.
Cases for the Arc Automatic watches are stainless steel, with gold PVD coating applied to some models
OK, at least it's not the IP coating.
A display back for a watch powered by a minimally finished Miyota movement is something that some enthusiasts might dislike on the grounds that there is nothing much to show off
Oh my, and that's only a part of a longer sentence. I'll do the editing here: pairing the display back with this movement sucks cock. Shorter, and more to the point.
MVMT Arc Automatics serve a wonderful purpose – they give the experience of owning and enjoying a thoughtfully designed mechanical watch to just about anyone who wants to try it, and I suspect that years down the road, quite a few much more expensive watches, from companies that are not MVMT, are going to be sold because it was an Arc Automatic that got the customer hooked on watches in the first place.
Mpfff. Just have them buy a Timex Marlin. Or a Seiko 5.

Aaaarghhh.

TMMLH.
My little brain can't even comprehend how deep that is.

Amen.

In other words, the braying and the long-eared of the horological community have just sprayed a fair bit of semen all over an overpriced wonder of Aliexpress/Alibaba.

MVMT needs to crack the whip on its army of review writers; they are getting no respect on Amazon:

Unless you want a cheap-looking, cheaply made, ridiculously overpriced, plastic and cheap Chinese steel-made watch. When putting the watch down, it makes that high, hollow sound that everyone on earth associates with a low-quality product. The only thing premium about this watch is the packaging. DO NOT BUY THIS WATCH!!!! I bought the Cocotina Men's Fashion Leather Band Wrist Watch Quartz Watch (Brown), part number WT0085c, at the same time I bought this MVMT watch because I had a suspicion and it turns out it's the exact same watch. Literally the only difference is the packaging and the letters MVMT stamped onto the watchface of the $95.00 version. This is a $7.95 watch that MVMT is selling for $95. I received this piece of junk around 1:30 pm on October 28, 2016 and immediately started a return for a refund after unboxing and trying it on. Shame on you, MVMT. DO NOT BUY THIS WATCH!!

The comments section is often the best place to learn about a product and Amazon is full of comments, most of them purchased in bulk.

I'm sure somebody has already categorized the shills; they tend to stick out. A great deal of the 5 star reviews come from wives, mothers, and girlfriends and not the poor guy that is forced to wear the thing.

There's always going to be shills. The big-time brands rent blogs, MVMT rents rentboys.

As for the comments section, it looks like the repeating patterns seem to be:
-Lousy timekeeping, which disqualifies that stuff as usable watches in the first place
-Parts falling off, which puts MVMT in the Invicter league of junk.
