Auction hooha.

Post by bobbee » January 11th 2018, 2:41pm

Looks like someone will be getting a nice refund after two years...

http://watchesbysjx.com/2018/01/what-ha ... -solo.html

Just as the world was settling in for the first weekend of 2018, the watch scholar who goes by Perezcope shook things up. He posted well documented and irrefutable evidence that a Rolex Daytona ref. 6239 sold at Phillips’ first Hong Kong sale in December 2015 had a modified dial, one that had “Cosmograph” erased so as to make it a more valuable – a lot more valuable – “Solo” dial. Perezcope pointed out the same watch, still possessing its “Cosmograph”, was sold at Antiquorum in 2011.

I also noticed he mentions that hodinkee used this same watch as the best example of a 'Solo' they could find to use in one of their Daytona articles.
Nothing strange 'bout that...

Looks like our favourite watch journalist lampoon of an expert has already edited out his article about verbal wank to the ref. 6240.

It's just like with the previous issue of a watch with counterfeit parts being sold big at an auction house - another example of "authenticity laundering."

The moment I get off the fucking antibiotics, I'll have a drink to Jose Pereztroika and his detective skills - that was really something.
I always hope for the best. Experience, unfortunately, has taught me to expect the worst.

The guy posts some hilarious stuff.

That was fucking brilliant!

The comments under shameonwrist's post are worth a read as well - looks like Louis showed up to do the explaining, and got a solid walloping (as he always did when he showed up to explain himself and Hoodwinkee). Someone also posted the hashtag "Hodonkey." Looks like there are some Bring a Brain readers there...

Seen that - I subscribed to both perezcope and shameonwrist on Instagram. The two know their stuff, that's for sure.
