That was pretty impressive, The Russian (not Soviet Union) Vostok very much over-performed relative to its claimed specs, still working to about 2600 feet deep.

I had one, the same model as worn by Zissou in The Life Aquatic. The damn crown felt like a flimsy joystick. FROGGY (remember that crazy old guy?) Said that was the way it is supposed to be and that the watch became waterproof as pressure exerted force on the case at depth.

Yup...the above beater has the same feature. I remember when it came in. Took me a minute to figure out how to work it.
