September 12, 1966... Lift-off for Gemini XI
After a scrapped launch due to an autopilot problem on the launch vehicle, Gemini XI launched two days later, carrying astronauts Richard Gordon and Charles Conrad.
As on Gemini V, Conrad wore his Glycine Airman automatic GMT pilot watch, but this time it was exposed to outer space during 2 hours 45 minutes of spacewalks... it totalled over 10 days in space.
“Your heart was warm and happy
With the lilt of Irish laughter
Every day and in every way
Now forever and ever after."
