The Admiral and me: Day 2, and Snowy day 3!!

Post by Dr.Morningwood » January 22nd 2016, 9:38pm

So excited to have him, I took him around a bit today so show him(and yous guys) some of my area of NJ before the snow storm hits.

First stop was Duke Farms. The was part of the Doris Duke Estate opened to the public. Read about it below. Too cold a day to walk around but took a few shots:

Then I took a quick walk on the Delaware and Raritan Canal:

Now besides being a Pharmacist, I also am involved in my family business of land development and home construction started by my dad almost 60 years ago. Since he has retired, it was my brother and I for 15 years, and now on my own.
Took the Admiral to the jobsite today to show him the pipes and structures that were delivered today for a massive underground storm water detention system.
This system will consist of 3 foot wide perforated pipes, 12 roes of them, 100 feet long!! Almost the size of an NBA basketball court!!This system of pipes will be wrapped in heavy duty filter fabric, surrounded by 3 feet of stone all around, and encased in more filter fabric. All this will be attached to a filtration system, called a "jellyfish" to catch any particles that might slip through these pipe.
All this for a small 5 lot sub division!!

If you guys are interested, I can post pictures of the system as it is being built. Snow storm might slow it down a bit.

Again thanks for looking

I'm interested. A while back I ran the "large structure" plant for a precast company. Made 6'and 8' diameter catch basins, risers and such, and various boxes like the one in the background behind the uke. We did some 4' too, though the bulk of that was in a different plant, ours was the Agru lined stuff.

The Admiral is laying some serious pipe. Glad you've got some time to show him around. I too am interested in the project. I am considering installing a much smaller drain system on a part of my yard which has a lot of clay in the soil.

Well, we got more snow than expected so far. Was going out for the first round of snow clearing and the wife had me do this first. How many Admirals does it take to change a light bulb?

Then the Admiral and I got down to business.
10" at 11am this morning, with another 12 hours of snow to go:

Needed some tunes to drown out sound of snow blower. I usually do not wear my watches this way, but best way to get the Admiral in shot:

Back inside after 2 hours of snow clearing. Gonna have to do it all again tomorrow. Calling for anywhere from 18-30" when all said and done.

Awesome reports. That Admiral is one tough bugger.
