Spunks is a true beauty. She must be a woman, or I am ghey (not that there would be anything wrong with that. Also, I am a degenerate liberal European, so You'd not notice the difference anyways. )

Anyways I didn't quite find the time to offer her the welcome she would have deserved. It was out of the box, straight on to my wrist, and off we went to Denmark, for a customer visit. Unfortunately that took longer than expected, so part of the tour that I wanted to give to Rear Admiral Spunk was canceled. Normally I do eat a Danish Hotdog on the way home.
Image
No time for that... :?
So I went straight back home to the stables, to walk the dogs. They were not too excited about Spunks, but that is just the bad influence my wife has on them.
Image
Here is the horse. Same as the dogs.

And watch the sundown.

In the foreground, yes, that is actually a car. By European standards.

Mayo and ketchup on a hotdog? If you ordered that in a coney joint in Detroit, you would be evicted, forcefully.
We called another exterminator to take care of the rat problem in the basement. This one hasn't come out either.

Right? And is that thing even cooked for Christ's sake?

Cool the Admiral made it all the way there; looks no worse for the wear.

Gerd- that "car" looks fun- do the horses pull you and the family in it for Sunday rides in the woods, or what?

The Danish kitchen is actually most famous for "smørrebrød", You can look it up here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sm%C3%B8rrebr%C3%B8d.

I must admit, the hotdog in the picture was grabbed from a German site, and no German can make a true Danish Hotdog. It should NOT be mayonnaise, but a remoulade, basically a yellowish mayonnaise with finely chopped pickles and stuff. Under the wienie (either fried or heated in a broth) there is mustard. On top, ketchup, indeed, and remoulade. The whole thing is topped with slices of sweet-and-sour cucumber salad, roasted onions AND diced fresh onions (also missing in the picture). The traditional Danish wienie is a "rød pølse" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%B8d_p%C3%B8lse.

Jaysus H. Christ! Ketchup, on a hot dog?? As Stash would say, all them Danish must be communists, by golly!

The only proper way to make a hot dog is with a Vienna Beef frank, in a steamed poppyseed bun, topped with mustard, some chopped raw white onions, and atomic green relish, by golly (or verdammt, as the case may be.) Sauerkraut or beef chili can be added, but even this is questionable, by golly. Verdammt.

Possibly it is quite "lækker", by golly. However, what I described is a "Chicago dog." This is how hot dogs are made in Shy-town. Alas for all you Europeans and East coasters (and left coasters as well) Vienna Beef franks are quite unavailable in any place but northern Illinois. Vienna Beef also makes the very fine sliced beef chuck that is used in Italian Beef sammiches, which are also only found in Chicago. Italian Beef sammiches are worth the entire price of airfare to Chicago, by golly. Last year I flew to Chicago for my sister's memorial service, and my brother took me out to eat when I got there, and the first thing I ate was an Italian Beef sammach at a local Buona Beef joint:

And I had an orgasm, by golly.

Love dogs. Horses spook the shit out of me, despite their beauty. Chicago dogs are the best. Mayo on a hot dog is a sickness. Evil, even.

You guys are driving me crazy. Here a picture of a true Danish Hot Dog. NO FUCKIN' MAYONNAISE!

Image

I found the picture on a Danish food magazine that claims that the Danish version has even become popular in New York.

Never mind about the Hot Dog. Next will be a true German Spezialität.

Don't forget the tomato slices and the sport pepper, you verdammt Philistine! As for myself, I prefer a natural casing dorg - I like the "snap" when you bite 'em - the dorg talks back. Add a little (Gerds, you'll know) mittelscharfer senf und zweibel, yowza! Boar's Head makes a good natural casing, as does Dietz and Watson on the east coast, but the best are locally made by Rieker's German Butcher or Ilg's Meats - both in eastern Pennslovakia.

Another great thread. Gerd, your dogs are really spectacular. Looks like Spunk is still in brand new condition.

After recently undergoing a shipment problem on a non-watch product, I must note, as humbly as I can: The United State Postal Service is a national joke. I recently send a certified letter with tracking that got lost. Everything shipped to my NY office is FUBAR. I understand in this case, our members aren't gonna spend a bunch of cash to ship a $40 watch here and there, but it's just another example of ghaahhhh.
WatchGeeks will go down in watch forum history as the worst watch related site that existed. Trolls, threats, bannings, and owners and sponsors talking out of their collective asses to fleece people out of hard earned money. - Koimaster

Great pictures! That sunset vehicle in the background - is that a B-Klasse Mercedes?

Very cool you have a horse - I can never let my daughters see this post. When the horse is Old and tired - how many of those hot dogs will he yield? ;)

Hehe - horse meat is not so popular here in Germany anymore, so it doesn't really matter. Also, this is an Islandic Horse. These do grow quite old, 30-35 years is not uncommon. So we would still have to wait a while.

The car is a Ford Grand C-Max.

This is really a nice little watch, it did even receive compliments on a 50ies birthday party where we went today. The indiglo-function is really cool, but I totally dig the dial of this Timex.
