Samsung's Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic are certainly among the sleekest-looking smartwatches on the market right now. Especially since Sammy expanded the Classic branch of the line with a Rose Gold and Platinum models. Now, those who want their smartwatch to resemble a classy-looking timepiece can definitely keep the Gear S2 Classic on their watch list.
What? Not enough bling for you? Well, worry not, because it seems Samsung is hardly done. The company has just announced a partnership with Swiss luxury jeweller de GRISOGONO, who will be building the chassis and wristbands for a limited edition run of the Gear S2.
Named "Samsung Gear S2 by de GRISOGONO", the watch has a rose gold case, encrusted with fifty six 1.2 carat white diamonds, a black DLC-coated stainless steel accent piece with seventy one 1.8 carat black diamonds, and a black galuchat (rawhide) strap with a triple-folding stainless steel clasp. On the inside, we've got your run-of-the-mill Galaxy Gear S2 hardware, with a Snapdragon 400 SoC, half a gigabyte of RAM, 4 GB of storage, and your typical 360 x 360 pixel, 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display. So what's different? Well, you do get a couple of exclusive watchfaces, modeled to complement the timepiece's looks.
The super-luxury smartwatch will be available for purchase some time this summer. There is no word in pricing yet, but we have a hunch that it may be ridiculously expensive. If you happen to be locked in Apple's ecosystem and feel bad that you wouldn't be able to use this shiny timepiece instead of your Apple Watch Edition, don't worry, there is hope, as Samsung has confirmed that the Gear S2 will be compatible with iOS some time this year
