It is a pretty faithful modern interpretation of the 1964 Calendar Auto Orient. The original had a five link bracelet as well.

Re: On The Way: Orient Star 1964 Diver V2
Thanks guys.
A while back I had the green/aqua version of this watch and really liked it overall. However, the bright color, while excellent for occasional wear, was a bit much for me for long term daily wear which is what I am looking for at this point in my horological arc.

Definitely prefer the black over the green. Green watches...

Re: On The Way: Orient Star 1964 Diver V2
Some details
Listed as 41mm case but case is 40mm with an overhanging bezel
49mm lug to lug. Longish, but lugs angle down a lot.
14.3 mm thick. At least 1mm of that is domed crystal
The case is entirely polished except brushed lug tops. Polishing is said to be zaratsu.
No scratch resistance treatment, probably my only nit.
Glossy lacquer dial. 50 hour power reserve.
They have come out with a Ti version with surface hardening but cut down on the bling. Case almost entirely brushed, matte black dial. My Seiko SBDC171 is entirely brushed diver so that slot is filled.
Also purchased the JDM reference. Currently Orient references are prefixed with a code for their intended markets on otherwise identical watches. RE is Europe, RA is Americas, RK is Japan. There may be others for other regions.

Re: On The Way: Orient Star 1964 Diver V2
I have tried a number of times with green watches. Very eye catching at first but just not something I can get comfortable with long term. Getting this green diver finally convinced me it was never going to happen with me and a green watch. Loved everything else about it and the green was leaning agua/teal and still, green watch syndrome.jason_recliner wrote: βOctober 14th 2024, 5:24pmDefinitely prefer the black over the green. With the bonus of knowing you're wearing a watch that, if you were to meet Conjurer while wearing it, would give him a raging, throbbing erection!WISenheimer wrote: βOctober 14th 2024, 8:33pmI have tried a number of times with green watches. Re: On The Way: Orient Star 1964 Diver V2
This arrived today this evening. Fastest shipping ever from Japan via DHL, they received it Thursday morning in Japan, here Friday evening.
Some pics purloined from the web. Comes with a silicon strap well received by reviewers but I am inclined to keep it on bracelet.
The bezel insert follows the arc of the domed crystal quite nicely, something I liked a lot on the green one I owned. Orient spiffs it up with rice paper wrapping on inner box.
