My own watch project
Hello to all watch lovers, I wanted to share some of mine own watches,(fully functional prototypes)I am a watch enthusiast as we all are in this group. So I made what I like I know its not everyone's cup of tea, but I think they turned out nice :) powered with famous Swis Eta Valjoux 7750 decorated elabore in 42mm cases with C1 and old radium luminous. Hand made "crazy horse" straps. Cusn8 bronze case and steel case. What do yuo think ? Thia

Re: My own watch project
Hello again, Robertas. I see you have your watches completed, congratulations!
I’m willing to bet the cases are just as chunky as before and I see the indices do not line up with the bezel so that’s not good.
Have the other concerns raised years ago in this thread been addressed? I’m only asking because I sense another Kickstarter campaign about to begin.

Re: My own watch project
Well I have a few questions
How thick ? Most 7750 cases are a bit thicker up to about 15-16 mm at most.
Did you modify the movement?
Did you have a watchmaker help on the tuning of the movement to get it within specs? If so what are the movements running at ? If Swiss made are you looking to test them?
Did you design the case? If so what tolerances were needed during the CC process?
Did you do anything in the rotor to make it special?
Did you just buy parts out of a catalog? I’m truly not impressed.

Is this a watch you made yourself? Are you learning to be a watchmaker?

I never had Kickstarter campaign for them but planing to do that in the future, cases now little bit better but with see through glass at the back cap, indexes are fine I think its more an angle that picture was taken.bbattle wrote: ↑September 20th 2024, 3:49pmHello again, Robertas. Re: My own watch project
Well if you can make a watch, you're sort of a watch maker! How many of these can you make though? How long does each one take you?Echo watches wrote: ↑September 25th 2024, 8:43amI am not a watchmaker, but want to have my own watch brand, so I made some watches, the way I see them and what I likejason_recliner wrote: ↑September 21st 2024, 6:47pmIs this a watch you made yourself? Re: My own watch project
There are loads of Kickstarter watches that have gotten funded but go no further. Manufacturing costs somehow grow and eat up the money. The solution? Why, announce another Kickstarter project to get enough funds to ship watches from the first project.
I'm watching this in real time right now; a certain KSer is still fiddling with the design parameters. This has been going on for a while now; will I recognize the watch once it is finally delivered? Who knows.
One thing I know; I won't be bothering with Kickstarters again.

Re: My own watch project
Wow, using old school radium on/in your watches. The use sounds kind-of hazardous for a watchmaker making batches of them.Echo watches wrote: ↑September 20th 2024, 12:10pm
I wanted to share some of mine own watches. So I made what I like powered with famous Swis Eta Valjoux 7750 decorated elabore in 42mm cases with C1 and old radium luminous.
Question= What parts of your watch is C1 and which are radium--------- or did you mix the two together prior to application??? Curious mind wants to know

Re: My own watch project
Sorry, any watch using "Old Radium" lume makes me want to fucking puke. Now, actual old radium lume, like the kind applied by the Radioactive Girls--may they rest in peace--is remarkably cool. As Dirtbox might opine, "Gee, to think that the poor bint who painted that on my Oh-mee-gah dial is now buried in the ground in a lead casket, huzzah!"
Also, Mr. Echo-finder, nobody is really impressed with the Valjoux 7750 anymore. It's ancient, it's common, and the fact that ETA still lets some of 'em out the back door for microbrands doesn't hide the fact that they're unreliable. I've owned a few, and about half of them have gone wrong. For fuck's sake, the Poljot 3133 has a better track record with me, and that's put together by a bunch of goddamn communists!
Now, none of your models totally suck dick appearance wise. That's a good thing. However, none of them have a date (or day-date, as the 7750 normally has), well, that's a not so good thing.
Keep trying, Mr. Echo. I'm sure you'll bring it off!

Re: My own watch project
Yes I understand, maybe just not lucky with them (7750) i use 7750 elabore and they have nice track, also poljot 3133 comes from Valjoux 7734 but those communist have modified it well and 3133 its a pretty much great beater, along with 31569 military version with hacking. I found 7750 robust and reliable movement with high beat rate and its also durable expecially decorated version.
I have used old radium luminous from superluminova as it goes well with bronze case. I like it, I know its not everyone's cup of tea, but I make what I like :) also I will have day date versions :)

Re: My own watch project
Another Cusn8 bronze watch case :) with bronze bezel and buckle with 22mm crazy horse strap. Not the best pictures as it was taken by me. Planning to have this version of the case as an option, this watch was worn for some time so it build some nice patina :) what do yuo think ? Do yuo like the bronze bezel?

Re: My own watch project
I'll be damned, didn't know Superluminova produces a radium substance for watches, thought the stuff was banned in the 60's. Learning new crap everyday.
I own a watch with a vintage looking luminous material applied but it is no-way a radium isotope
