The case is 16mm thick because is design for Eta 7750 movement.Lug to Lug 49mm,22mm strap, sapphire glass with ar coating, ceramic insert with Bgw9 luminous.I will have 316l steel, and black dlc versions.
Perhaps for once I can get my jollies out of playing the
advocatus diaboli... Got to enjoy a case literally so hollow.
I might not necessarily hate the steel version, but still, with just the case to look at, I can't really like or hate it in advance.
The problem here seems to be the case back design, which here appears to be rather unthoughtful - the surface that makes contact with the wrist is small, and sits on a high dome. This shifts the centre of gravity up, making the bloody thing top-heavy. On top of that, here you've got a broad, heavy rotating bezel, and that's seasoned with lugs floating well above the level of the case back. So, that's not even a matter of the dimensions and mass separately, it's a matter of how the mass is distributed within the dimensions.
From what I'm seeing in the pictures, the case is supposed to have a WR rating of 300m. Frankly, this is somewhat redundant, in spite of being popular. Then there's the bezel, which without being fully indexed isn't the height of usefulness, and without even the first 15 minutes indexed, I'd find it useless even in the kitchen.
I do look forward to seeing the complete thing. That's because not hating a Kickstarter project is rarely the case with me, and I do enjoy being positively suprised, or - bottom line - disappointed by not being able to dislike what was so promising as a potentially loathsome material worthy of a fine rant. And if I will hate what I see, I'll get even more jollies out of writing the fine rant, a rant roasting it to fucking crumpets.
