The 2893 (and 2892) is a great movement. Maybe not as cool as the original but a decent reissue and it's nice to get an homage from the brand that did the real thing IMO.

That's a nice movement, for sure; I had one in a Philip watch once. I like how the cities disk still says "Bombay."

Yeah, it's a good gin, that's for sure.

I've always had a jones for world timers, and the 2893-3 is the only commercially available movement I know of that does this, apart from Orient's movement, the model number I forget.

Great movement- don't care for the dial.

It's funny, Indian friends of mine still refer to the city as Bombay. But some of them now use Chennai instead of Madras, on the basis that it was often called that anyway. Both names are derived from original names of villages that ended up part of the city.

I notice they still stick with Bangkok. Bit Anglo-centric? Maybe they should have written กรุงเทพมหานคร
