Oh, no. I haven't logged on much the past couple of days; it's Saturday morning and this is the first I'm learning of this.

Oh, no. This is just terrible. HF was a friend, and his Photoshop funnies were a real highlight. One of the very best.

This is really bad news. I'm so very, very sorry. Good lord...so out of the blue.

As a asshat myself My nomination's for the newest asshat would be Toby ( jason_recliner ) and Chris ( Catnap ). Both have the passion for watches, are fine honorable gentleman with wit and humor that cuts to the quick.

Toby and Chris are my votes.

Both fine choices. In view of foggy's post, I second their nominations.

NO NO NO!!!

GODFUCKINGDAMMITSHITGODDAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FUCK!!

Damn, Clarence, dammit man, I wish it wasn't so. Jeeze pal, I'm going to have to take down all your cartoons from the wall in front of my desk in my office and hang my school bullshit back up, at least for a little while, -damn, I'd been meaning to PM you and tell you how fuckin' funny I thought the latest sig pic was, "Follow Me To COSTCO" - "Honk If You See Parts Fall Off" and shit, sorry man, well, I know you know how much fun I had on the trips to the Pine Barrens, those rides in the work car -ya always had them in tip-top shape- and the disposing of delivering the packages, I'll never forget that, and Del Monicos, Jeeze pal, I'll never be able to go back there again, maybe not even ever eat surf and turf again, and thanks for the advice about my old-man money and everything, and it was fun talking with you about your going back to school, and your new gig and the trip of going out on your own... I don't know what else to say, the joint just won't be the same without you pal, I will severely miss you, TO YOU CLARENCE!

Rest in peace, pal.

Dammit.

I didn't even know his name was Clarence, let alone that his nickname was "Chip" (as the heartfelt message from his sister indicated). I had no watch transactions, no business of any kind. We exchanged a couple of PMs the time I suggested that Kevin try mixing bleach and ammonia for bezel-aging...and it seemed like he might actually have tried it. My stars, how we laughed.

I always though of him as a friend. This one hits hard. I don't really know why. His age? Christ, only 54. That I genuinely liked him? Maybe. That my wife and I have been having what we call a "bad Oliver day", where we struggle with our own loss? Probably a bit of this.

I don't know. I usually avoid death threads, for reasons I hope are obvious. But this one hurts. I love his humor, his quick wit, his grace, his WISdom, his wisdom, his puns...which tended to clever rather than excruciating, like so many would-be punsters. He is a large part of what makes this place what it is.

We need to adjust the poll results, and move him to the last category, as he will always be a watchlord, even if he is currently "Dead or close enough". For accuracy, of course. I should think an engineer would appreciate that.

His rank is listed at retired WIS just like bigedsurf. As long as we remember them here they are never truly gone.

I can't believe it.

I take my focus off the forum for a couple days and am shocked by the most dire of news when returning and digging around.

I just can't fucking believe it. I'm numb.

To me, Horse Feathers was a WatchLords pillar. A vivid sense of humor was his calling card and I always looked forward to his next Photoshop mash-up that held snappy, biting satire.

He and I usually... well, never... agreed on politics as we knocked topics around in the Policy Room, but his arguments were always intelligent, honest and consistent.

Here is the official day HF and I became friends. After long battles, we finally came to one agreement. FINALLY! To note the event, he suggested I "circle the day on my calendar". I did and posted it with pride.

You will be missed by not only your immediate family, HF, but a family with many brothers you have never met.

Yeah, I understand, but, as Alain mentioned early on in this thread, Fedders would probably have enjoyed it...

A bump for this one, as I was just looking at some of HF's posts, which were, without exception, funny, smart and sometimes biting. Some new members here totally missed out on Horse Feathers, and I encourage them to look through some of his posts, and to see why he was held in such high regard.

RIP, brother.

Here's hoping 2016 is a much better year for our group and for me personally. Far too much loss this past year, and I'm happy to get a fresh start.

And HF, we are still laughing, friend. A very nice legacy to have.
