Anyone Know more about the history of the 520.206R

Post by Craigbythesea » July 9th 2017, 9:15am

I have just picked up this Tag Heuer 2000 Professional Cronongraph 570.206R. Is says it is water resistant to 200m. However with the Tachymeter and leather strap it looks more like a drivers watch. I have read it comes from the early 90's and I have seen them on metal bracelets. I just thought it was more interesting than later Tag 2000.

You can see some pictures on this Pinterest link. https://uk.pinterest.com/craigparkermai ... r-520206r/

So the question is, is this a divers watch or a drivers watch? Is it more interesting than later models? Certainly got my friends talking

Well, with the bezel and the WR rating, it could be called a diver's watch, although with the tachymeter scale and chrono functions it would probably be safer to call it a sports watch. Being as old as it is, I wouldn't take it in the water without having a watchmaker check the seals and Sew Fourth.
I find tv watches to be like the guys who raise their truck you need a fricken ladder to get in. It’s a attempt to look cool... that’s all.

that is good, showers and watch seals do not mix well. As john mentioned, they are considered a sports watch and a good one at that when they came out. There were several discussions about them at forums over the years.

I would go to this very informative website and write to the editor there:

https://www.calibre11.com/

It's the most throughout and complete site about the history of both Tag Heuer and Heuer you will find.

That being written: I have never heard of or seen that model number before as part of the Tag Heuer line. A Google search for it also brought up nothing.
WatchGeeks will go down in watch forum history as the worst watch related site that existed. Trolls, threats, bannings, and owners and sponsors talking out of their collective asses to fleece people out of hard earned money. - Koimaster
