Yeah, I know this looks like either a hardshell case for a zither or a casket for a mouse – but it’s actually a pretty nifty little thing I actually needed: This is the Casematix watch travel case, a Chinese-made (what isn’t) protective watch case now sold at Amazon for $11.99.

I need this because my new job (which, safe to say, is kinda kickin’ my ass) is the type of place where I simply can’t wear a good watch; I’ll leave it at that. For too long I haven’t worn a watch while out and about because of that, or wear it while at work to get chewed up or nicked. Now, I can simply put a decent watch in this case and put this case into my small briefcase. Now, I’m back to wearing any watch I want, any day of the week.

This really does look like a hardshell guitar case, and it’s so simple: Made of seemingly the same sort of tough plastic you’d find in, say, Gator products (molded EVA), it’s packed with a layer (or two, if you desire, since it comes with extra pieces) of foam, and it claims to accept watches up to 56mm. Since I don’t wear anything close to that, I took a flyer on this. It works. It’s got rubber zipper pullers, and it feels substantial and unbreakable. It comes complete with a watch cleaning cloth (nice touch, but I wouldn’t use it since the material is decidedly old school) and a metal travel carabiner, but I think anyone who attach this to luggage would be making a mistake (Hey, look, I got a good watch I’m trying to protect!).



It’s just a simple little thing, and it works just fine. I’m not gonna get dirt and grime and other stuff I deal with on my watches. With this, I can take the watch off as I begin work and put it back on as I leave. Watches 365. That’s my deal. This helps.

Hadn't seen those before. It looks like an elongated watch pod, which I use when travelling or gtgs. Throw several of those in your carryon and watch what kind of interest you get from TSA.

Is there something between the case back and bracelet to prevent rubbing?

There is, indeed, an additional piece of loose padding which can be placed between the case back and bracelet.

I've used this about a week now and it, well, works just fine.
