Bought me a Porsche

Post by Datsun240Z71 » December 20th 2024, 5:11am

Picked up a 2019 718 Cayman base model with the 2.0 300 hp turbo 4 cylinder, PDK automatic transmission, upgraded wheels and seats, and only 19k miles. Car was fully servced at local Porsche dealer in January 2024. The car is basically flawless cosmetically. Different than anything else I've ever had. Traded in at the local Hyundai dealer that we've bought 4 cars from previously: it was traded in on a new Santa Fe SUV by the local owner. Really like it in the 100 miles I've put on it thus far.

I was looking at several other cars recently, including Lexus LC500 (beautifully executed car, but from behind the wheel it reminded me of my Genesis G90, only with a great exhaust sound; may still get one someday), Mercedes AMG GT (ride is punishing and seats are rock hard), and I even looked at a few Aston Martin Vantages (peeling dashboards on several, outrageous parts and service). Having the Mercedes SL450, Corvette Grand Sport, Camaro ZL1 and Shelby GT500, I decided to go back to my roots (like my Datsun 240Z)... small and fun and when this one popped up at the Hyundai store in the $50k range, I was all-in after having test-driven this one and another two years ago. Only driven about 150 miles in last few days (rainy and cold) but really like it so far. Got the windows tinted, and several items on order for it. Only real complaint thus far is it shifts into higher gears at low speeds for fuel economy in regular traffic and engine "lugs" somewhat, but the PDK transmission is super quick and seamless when it shifts to lower gears.

Gonna beat out Cojurer on the raging boner. He posted already but missed his chance. LOL
NRPI and Shitheel here.

If I am to be insulted I must first value your opinion.

Superb! The most fun per pound behind the wheel by nature of the most neutral handling well-balanced chassis ever produced. A package completed by standard-setting brakes, high-quality assembly, and tune-ability with loads of after-market support.

Sure, it may not be the most powerful in your Scuderia - though, as you know, that’s not the point - but it is certain to be the most nimble, and that kind is…

Great choice man - enjoy!!
