OK, you bastards

Post by nimbleboy » April 22nd 2024, 3:20pm

I bought this 10-yr-old car in December with 38.5K miles on it.

Is it super fun? Hell yes. Do I love the color? Hell no. Does it work just fine in the snow with snow tires on it? Hell yes. Does it have a hard top that eases on down into the space behind the seats? Hell yes. Am I in the midst of some kind of midlife crisis? Hmmmm… maybe. My best girl has purchased a condo and is leaving me. But no acrimony and frankly, I'm relieved.

Is this car practical? Hell no. Here is a pic after I washed it today. My date is two snow tires mounted on steelies because I live where we normally get a proper winter. The other two had already been dropped off at home before this pic was taken.

Am I ghey? Eh, I don’t identify as such and my ween confirms it- but I don’t care about that.

I love my car.

Roadsters rock. So much fun surprising they are still legal.

Picked up this 78 Alfa Romeo in 2019 showing 37K, which seemed actual to both me and my Alfaholic mechanic.

Nice, I love these! You don't like the colour? Mazda does the BEST red.
I will second that based on my long gone 3rd gen red RX-7.
I like blue-based reds. This is too orange-y for my taste. But it's in such good shape, I couldn't pass on it based on something that's changeable.

I had a first-gen RX-7 and I still occasionally dream about driving that car.

Just be careful on visibility, like motorcycles.

A little different as bikes are tall but narrow while these are wide but short. And vehicles are so tall now.

Parking lots seem the worst. I have almost been hit so often that if I have to drive into one, I keep one hand on the horn, but usually try to just park out on the edge in an empty area if I can.

Just be aware and assume other drivers don't see you. The red will probably help.

Awesome! I used to really enjoy flogging revs out of something similar but less luxurious… and much much leakier.

But, the bottom line is, small & light is always better...

Because it’s usually a helluva lot more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow!

Miatas are great cars, and IMO, that is the best color. I've looked at them countless times, but at 6'3", it's just too small. I'd never own a cloth top anyway, and the retractable hardtop is just too small and confining.

Love my roadster, although with 7 cars in the stable, it doesn't get out as much as it should.
