So much more money to be made in luxury cars and/or giant SUV's with all the bells and whistles.

There was a Lincoln SUV at the mall with a $109,000 price on the windshield.

I love these. All the quality of the RR and Bentley without a bunch of inappropriate stylistic references to 1930s coachbuilding slapped on in a clumsy cartoonish caricaturish pastiche. This would probably be my daily if I had the $$$.

In a moment of madness last year I contemplated buying the sedan. I've never seen quality anything like it (I haven't been in the Bentleys and RRs of the last 20 years). Seven layers of paint and clear coat. Wood by Yamaha's top piano makers. Smoothness and calm way beyond any other car I've driven (or sat in). Just unbelievably fine.

Interesting. But not a fan of the exterior of the Toyota.

I see the entire article hinges on one word - and clearly identifies the opportunity for an even more foolish SUV expenditure that would potentially purchase a near-miss product lacking any provenance and which wields no threat of maintaining long term value or measurable demand.

However, as Recliner so gleefully demonstrates, there exists a tremendous market of fools who seem happy to throw money toward the veneer of “almost”.

Indeed.

While the Toyota Century certainly isn't pretty (and, really, there're only so many things one can do to make an SUV look like anything but a medical appliance), the Bentley is so fucking ugly it makes my fucking eyes water. I've seen one or two on the road and the experience was so horrific that I had to stop myself from executing a PIT maneuver and dragging the Amazon exec out from behind the wheel and beating him half to death with a tire bat.

You guys are nuts. This thing looks bloody brilliant (for a SUV).
