Oregon air show Hillsboro edition
I spent yesterday at the Oregon air show in Hillsboro. This is the smaller of the two shows held annually. The bigger, better show will be held in late September. Codguy and I will be there watching the Blue Angels and others. Scheduling an airshow in May, in western Oregon, is living dangerously but the organizers lucked out this weekend as mostly clear, sunny skies prevailed. So a few pictures or it didn't happen. Ignore that persistent smudge on the lens, my bad.
An F15C from the local 142nd Fighter Wing. These guys are not a flight demo team so they basically make a few loud passes, afterburners optional.
EF18G from Whidbey Island, this is the Growler electronic warfare version, thus the back seat jammer dude.
One of the Growlers in heritage formation with a F4U Corsair from the Erickson aircraft collection, based in Madras, Oregon.
P38 Lightning from the Erickson collection.
F4U Corsair and FM2 Wildcat from the Erickson collection. Several of their aircraft were flown in the recent film Devotion.
A PBY Catalina, owned by a group from Eugene. When was the last time you saw a Catalina fly? This one served in WWII and later as an airliner. Dubbed the Princess of the Stars, her history is noted on the interwebs.
Another pass by the Catalina. Note the ham flight engineer is always looking at the crowd.
An F35B shows where the bombs/missiles are kept.
F35B at Airshow center.
