I've sold my Montblancs and nifty Longines pen (was really nice) to go green with renewable resources. These days I use my greenwing macaw's tail feathers as "writing instruments" (which is like saying "time pieces") and a mixture of mini-bull terrier urine and over-boiled coffee for ink.
Works wonders!

No. I’m a horrifically terrible snob - I use exclusively MontBlanc pens and a lot of their (and Pelikan’s) inks.

Both metal and “precious resin” whatever the fuck that is - I love how they feel and how they write. But don’t drop the goddamn ‘resin’ pen because when it cracks or shatters you’ll probably be so pissed that you’ll kick the hell out of your neighbors dog. Don’t be a dick like that... just be careful. Pay attention, damn it!

Like watches and knives - pens, too, can be a bit of a slippery slope since there is so much more available than originally meets the eye when you first take an interest...
Different nibs provide a different style, look, and feel to your writing/penmanship: I prefer a custom 1.2mm “stub” and another “italic” nib but have a range of fine, medium, & broad nibs, along with other basic rollerball, fineliner, and the least-preferred lowly ball point.

There is usually some degree of connection in color between my watch dial or band, VSA-specific pocket knife, and Mtblanc pen or ink choice.

I always have a suitable pen on my person and therefore steadfastly refuse to use any courtesy pen or provided ‘clicky-click’ ballpoint.

Gross.

Those are for the masses who don’t know any better, or don’t care.

And, on both accounts, I do.

My Pilot G2 fine point gels make me happy. Have them everywhere.

The wife hates gel pens so it means that they are always where I leave them. Bonus!

Not fancy, not elegant but I love them.

I had a MB ballpoint and a Meister. fountain pen stolen with a briefcase and used the insurance money on film. 35mm camera film, that is (not everyone remembers).

I had a couple'a roller ball pens but I didn't like the MB refills so I modified them to take Cross' rollers and that was a fine arrangement.

Then one day in 1991 someone loaned me a Pilot Precise V5 (the ones with the ink supply window) to use to write a few progress notes. It was like writing with a syringe and a 20 gauge needle, and I've used those babies primarily ever since- 1991 it was.

^^ the Pilot Precise is all one of my co-workers will write with.

I have a Nissan Z car limited edition Waterman ballpoint. Have had it for a long time and don't remember when or where I got it. It never leaves my desk.

Plus two on the lowly Pilot Precise V5.
Have them sitting in a coffee cup on my desk in a huge assortment of colors that "looks like Walt Disney threw up (gag line from the movie The End).

Side note; for kicks, I would hand needed notes/work to our millennial employees written solely in cursive........they typically shake their head and begin trying to decipher them.

Nice looking pen set Nuvo, but it looks like too much work for me.............<-----that and the fact I've been known to drink beer from a can.

That’s awesome... I do that, too! People of a certain age have a “secret” language that young people can’t read... seems crazy.

These days my cursive is not much better. Hands aren't quite as steady as they were 30 years ago. My grandkids will likely have no idea what their birthday cards from me say.

When I worked at an ad-specialty shop, they had a collection of expensive pens in the safe. Bankers or businessmen that were signing a huge contract would buy the pens and have them engraved.

Lab. notebooks and quality control regulations meant I only use black ink. Then it's blue ink for legal documents. Red for grading tests.

When do I get to use the green ink?

Between all the years of taking notes and all of the years writing notes I developed my own shorthand that has devolved into scribble I can frequently no longer read myself.

My daughter who has a BA and Masters has such bad cursive I can barely make it out. It looks prettty though.

My cursive is still pretty good but I did convert to a printed form in the 70s in order to take notes faster. I had a Korean Prof for Premed who could write on the slateboard and erase faster than you could keep up.

I have a few Mont Blancs and a set of engraved gold Cross set. Some other odds and ends including a hand made wooden dip type pen with a siver nib.
