The Return of Master Wing

Post by conjurer » December 6th 2015, 12:54pm

And so it begins; the trumphant return of TV wartche wingerkind Wing, the lithe Asian golden boy of catalogue tymepeaces, the self-effacing grifter of many, many WIT warlets:

http://watchintyme.com/thread/27183/presenting-aragon
I find tv watches to be like the guys who raise their truck you need a fricken ladder to get in. It’s a attempt to look cool... that’s all.

I'm waiting with baited breath over here. I could be wrong but I was always under the impression that the Winged one actually designed his wartches. Not that he builds them because he has the same number of watch factories as Eyal does. There are thousands of watch companies out there. That, and the fact that most people just buy a watch based on appearance, with no idea who does what or where they do it. Having a canned audience built through TeeVee wartch shows and maintained by sites such as WIT must be a small watch companies wet dream. Even with that, when I used to watch, Wing just seemed a little uncomfortable with the fanboi following. Don't get me wrong, he sells crappy watches to goofballs but I never sensed he relished in it like some of the others. More like this is what my life has become compared to Eyals milk these fuckers as long as I can. Can't believe I actually took the time to write that, but hey it's raining here.
See you're WRONG I don't work at all, I'm a Democrat. The immortal Horse Feathers as spoken to Chucky Ninetoes.

Holy shit - it's the same old crap!!!!

And look at them WITs hopping around like they actually touched a living female's breast!

"All is right with the world" one of them posts!

OMFG, it's like CENSORED

(I can't say the damning insult I want to say, because the level of ridicule would be so tasteless and contemptible that even the most hardened members here would probably lose what little respect for me they might have. But look at it this way - just take the worst insult you can think of about Geeks and then think of kittens not being fed properly or Grandma's wheelchair on the I-95 or, TT nude or something).

Oh, and

I can sum that up in two words: Hyuck-Hyuck! Seriously, all of that WITless gushing for a photo showing perhaps one-third of a plain-jane dial and a goofy red low-go on the crown? Jeebly Moe-sezz... Maybe bovine alive shouldn't be so quick to rehire Das Winged Won.

I am in the rather uncomfortable position of having to, some what, defend Master Wing Ding. True, the last few years a reasonable arguement could be made that he either lost his mind, or was just copying the Nvicter way. Grotesque watches like the 55mm Gauge, spinning rotors, and even retractable blades didn't help. But I just have to say, in his defense, he never lied about the origin of his watches, or tried to link them to any Swizzness. Unless they really had an ETA movement. But even then, he never denied their Hong Kong assembly. Also, like Androids or not, I can not think of another company that made watches with sapphire crystals, or Miyota 9000 series movements, so affordable. While I do not totally agree with it, there is a legitimate reason (in some cases) that Wing has a loyal cult following. Flame away guys, but I had to disagree that he's just another Lalo. Maybe a low grade Stan Betesh, but not a Lalo.
We called another exterminator to take care of the rat problem in the basement. This one hasn't come out either.

I agree 100% didnt seem to lie where his watches were made but the last three
yrs the watches looked cheap and too big.

Lot of truth in that.....no Lalo and I agree he was always upfront on the origins. I broke down and bought one of the divemaster quartz when they were practically giving them away, and found it was a pretty decent build and well worth the price I paid.

However, the "cult of Wing" that the WIT site has is a bit creepy....

Well, yeah!

Look - these are all budget watch brands, sold in the cheesiest way possible by cheesy people, so, obviously, it all attracts cheesy people to buy 'em. The reason – I can only guess - for all the mania over Liang is that he'll actually fix the stuff he sells. Wow, great, he does what any company is supposed to do - but WITs and Geeks have been getting butt-hammered by the likes of Lalo for so long that to them - people who live in the protective bubble of the TV box - Laing is almost a saint.

What the watches look like, how they run, what they do, etc, well, it's almost irrelevant. People were pledging to buy Laing's tuff on WIT before it even had a brand name, or before any models were revealed. God almighty - that's not watch collecting, that's illness - even the hardiest Omega or Rolex devotee, at the very least, discriminates. These waddling goofs just buy everything that's put in front of them once they get the sold-on-TV rash, which clearly even calamine lotion - or being shipped wrong or broken watches - won't cure.

A good point, Lufty. I still have, and, more importantly, still wear some of my older, much smaller and distinctively styled 'droids that Wing put out before SHQP/BovineAlive pressured him to put out bigger and worser models. I miss those original styles, but the present is what it is. Fer schize. :?

The new model "Aragons" all look exactly like the old Androids. A lot of the wits think this is a good thing, but it doesn't jibe with all the hints from master Wing Ding that his new line would be more limited and upscale. Just more of the same. Well, at least he's not offering any 55mm monsters with retractable blades..................yet.

The catapult. I want him to bring back the one with the catapult.

He actually said, about a year ago, that he was working on a new generation catapult. I never owned that most collectable timepeach, but I remember Wing saying to use popcorn kernels for ammunition, as bb's were too heavy. When it comes to Wing's designs, I guess the success is in the details.

Well, the Aragon error era has begun, with lots of pre-odors orders available:

Yup....although, for the price, this one ain't bad.

http://www.android-usa.com/Aragon-Divem ... 064blu.htm

I picked up the Android quartz version when they were under $50 buck just to check it out and it's not bad. Exact same model, except for the name and auto movement.
