What’s all this bullshit about a “re”-issue?
Seasoned Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts [now paging Dr. Smells] may understand how I feel the shape of the case mimics the soft curve of the dash on a 116-chassis S-Klasse (1972 - 1980). Which, makes sense, since they both hit the market
hard around 1974….
Could be coincidence, could be an era design trend…. But I see a Mercedes dash every time I put it on. (Most likely because that’s the dash I saw every time I stepped into my first car - one of 1861 units imported to the US with a 6.9 litre engine and trick hydropnuematic & air suspension.).
With a genuine 150mph top end that thirsty bitch simply
dominated everything else with wheels.
When I put on my Hamilton Pulsar P2 it always causes a very strong flashback to when I shook down and rocketed by a 383ci-powered 240Z on my way out to Willow Springs Raceway - his license plate: “ILRACEU”. When we arrived at the track we had a great chat - super cool dude.
In my mind, that particular watch and that specific car are irreversibly linked…
