Until recently, Seiko had a long standing and explicitly stated predisposition against reissues of discontinued models, the 2000 Historical Collection being a notable exception.
The rationale being that Seiko wanted to be a forward looking and moving company rather than a retrospective one.
I personally liked that philosophy but they’ve caved and like so many other companies and sectors has adopted the remake/reimagine/reissue approach.
As to the watch itself, nothing I would buy but one supposes someone will.
Seiko has an enormously deep IP catalog so it will be a long time before they run out of reissue candidates so expect more of this.
