Speaking of Divers

Post by WISenheimer » November 29th 2024, 1:31pm

Closed the deal on a Seiko Brightz Phoenix SAGQ005 yesterday. 8L35B movement, 2010 release. Excellent condition, full collector kit, extra links.

The Seiko Stargate was released after this one and bears a strong resemblance.

Glam shot from the web. Old school Seiko outstanding lume on all the Brightz Phoenix models incidentally, at least the ones I have had pass through my hands.

Veeeerrrrrrry nice! Gotta love anything with an 8Lxx inside.
That was a big selling point for me. Back in 2010 when they were introduced, the MSRP was about 2800 USD, considerably more than the MM300 of that time.
Did it arrive yet?

No, just posted on shipping out from proxy yesterday. First it had to go to proxy in Japan, who repacks and reships. Usually takes about 10 days from end of auction to get to me.

Nivola was the absolute best.

Ferdinand Porsche called Tazio Nuvolari "the greatest driver of the past, the present, and the future".

Also, that’s a cool Seiko. Is it waterproof resistant?

It is Divers 200m rated. It also is 14 years old, likely not ever serviced, so who knows how well it is still living up to that rating. But I haven’t been diving since 1980s so not really an issue for me.
