Recently, I stumbled upon a video on Utube, where a guy was talking about making the 5 SNXS series better.
The unfortunate bummer about the SNXS is its ridiculously tall case back. The case architecture of Seiko 5s remained largely unchanged since the 1980s or so.
When Seiko decided to go with the trend for display backs, they designed a new back to fit the old case design. The result is an annoying, uber-thick chunk of a back that ridiculously adds to the thickness and lifts up the COG.
Fortunately, the diameter and height of the case back's threaded collar remained the same. So, you can easily transplant a case back from a 1980s one. I have one that has a movement in "done for" condition, so, I just swapped the backs, using the SNXS' gasket.
Here is the slimmed-down result that's a lot of fun to wear now: Next step: the bracelet. I went for a "Rolamy" AliExpress clone of the Jubilee - hollow endlinks designed for the SNXS case, all solid links, screw-held, clasp with 3 positions of microadjustment and the Easylink extension. As a result...meet the Seikojust!
