Don't listen to us-if you like the watch buy it. Its interesting to me that many who are tired of seeing these micro brands don't own any of them. I am about as qualified to recommend a Patek Philippe as they are to comment on a micro brand.

I'd add to the list d.freemont (dfreemontwatches.com) for the $500-1500 range; he designs and adjusts his watches, which are made for him in Switzerland. I've owned a couple, and this one's my dress watch:





He specializes in dress and chronos, and you have to like small watches--I don't think he's done anything over 42mm.

I checked out the website; some very nice watches and good prices. Lots of COSC certified watches and there are a few in > 40mm.

Okay, probably nobody will agree with this, but here's my opinion FWIW. I would just love to find some brands other than the shop brands that appeal to my style taste and my budget. I like larger size watches with distinct styling. Some examples of what looks good to me are the Android SilverJet2, the Renato Mostro and TRex, and the SubAqua, Specialties, and Speedways.

Now, I spent a lot of time going over all of the links that were provided and to me (again just IMHO) the styles were all very similar and fairly bland, and it was rare to see anything over 42mm in size. Anything that I did see that appealed to me was usually more than $1000. The most promising I found out of all those links was the Boschett WUS DWP, which I really like although it is still only 45mm, and the price is $900.

So, I have to say, that out of all of these links (and there are a lot of them) I don't see anything that is targeting the style and price point that the shop brands like Android, Renato, and Invicta are having such success with: larger size, dramatic style, quality construction, and under $500.

Not too sure about Renato and Android ( personally don't care for, or follow either one) but I have yet to see an Invicta that offers dramatic style and quality construction, as all they are consistently offer is others style rip-off's and crappy construction at any price..., although I will agree with you about the "larger" part ...if by "large" you mean, ridiculous, cartoonish large .

X2. I own an EL Wave. They have no retail presence in the US; they are available direct from the maker at the above website, via email. As a sidenote; there are relatively few watchmakers I have dealt with out there who are genuine gentlemen, and James Elsener, the owner of EL, is one of them.

I remember years ago when they made the "official" WTF watch, nice looking watches but the Claro movement they used (and still do, if I'm not mistaken), stopped me from getting one.

WoW Benarus is either extremely popular or they produce very limited pieces. According to their website, theyr current catalog is completely sold out and the reservation list is closed for all their new model lines!

Actually its both. Benarus is pretty popular on some of the forums and they usually produce 100 pieces at a time. Most of their watches sell out in the preorders anymore.
