How do you feel about Mr. Horology?

Post by Bigjimzlll » June 29th 2010, 11:06pm

I have had many battles with this idiot. I sent him a Big Pilot homage because the auto movement wasn't working right. He checked for a week and said it was fine...No it's not fine I said, it will stop. I had him wear it...ah....he said it is broke. needs a new movement. It had a chinese type 2824. I told him to put in a Swiss ETA 2824. He said it couldn't be done...he wanted 50 bucks to send it back to me. I told him just keep it.

His advice is wishy washy...Putz

I have read some of his posts and I assume he does some work on watches but some of his comments are straight out of google. Kind of like Jimbo

I sent Medhi a great looking Sea Vulture I bought from Currenttime a couple of years ago. It had the Unitas 6497 movement. The crown broke off in my hand one day as I was winding it which I've heard is a common occurance with this model.

I sent it to Medhi because he said he could get the part from Invicta in about 2 weeks. I was a little skeptical of this but thought being WG's in house "watchmaker" maybe he had an inside track. After sending him the watch, he evaluated and wanted $90 up front. The watch was worth it if he could get the part from Invicta but after careful consideration, I told him to just keep it.

After almost a year, I saw him selling the watch "as is" on WUS for like $75. I pm'd him and apparently he was not able to get the parts from Invicta to fix the watch and gave up.

Typical Invicta. DISPOSABLE WATCHES! No matter the cost. What the fuck?

i sent him three watches all with eta 2824 in them, lets just say he didnt know what the hell he was doing and i asked for one of them back! sounds like a quick way to get a bunch of free watches! I knew he didnt know what the fuck he was talking about when he was always sucking ass to horsetrack and tell him how great all his watches were when anyone in the know could have seen they were fakes! It was the end for mehdi and WG's for me, MD scolded me and said to quit all the talk about replica's unless i could prove it! Quess what, i did and then it came out that he bought them all at an estate sell and thought they were real!!!!! 500 grand in watches that you hide behind friggin cheap ass invicta's..... dont get me started on this shit again or i might have to go back to that shit hole!!

Don't doubt the Cruza. He has an appraisal for his DD Speedy from his Jeweler. He can't tell you how much, but if you PM him, he will be happy to show you. Someone told me it was appraised as follows:

1. DD Movement - Gray Market $120
2. Rest of the watch - Shitcan it $0.00

No jeweler in his right mind would even try to appaise an invicta watch! They need to know something about the product and a place to see how values hold...... where are they going to find that WG's?

I don't know Medhi so I can't comment. I was there for a bit while he joined. He is the Geeks WatchSmith I assume? Judging from some of the personal interactions from some members here, he doesn't sound too swift. Not that I'd ever send my watches to an unknown person for repair that I'd never met before.

I didn't send him any major pieces and did it just to help a kid out but not long after that he got his wg title and things seemed to go to his head a bit! I wouldn't send any watch I couldn't live without to someone I don't know much about or invicta customer service!!

I don't know who this Medhi clown is but I would NEVER send a watch for repair to anyone other than the factory. Of that's not doable then a I find a local watch maker/repair shop. One very good one not far from here so that's my choice if I need maintenance or repair outside of the warranty period.

When he came to WG, his first posts were about Invictas less than stellar QC. As you might guess he was'nt treated very nicely. His english then was pretty limited and many people though he was a troll. He is a member of NAWCC for whatever its worth and has his own repair shop website. I have no idea how much he knows. At one point, I enquired about a simple loose dial issue and was told the repair would require a full service also and it would end up around $200. It seemed to me that his policy was any watch case opened means full service-well screw that. On top of that it was going to be a few weeks to get it done.

Interesting about how HT now claims he picked up these watches. I remember him claiming they came from an AD in Chicago at least once. He even posted the name of the place. It speaks volumes about his knowledge of watches. I hope he is a better dentist.

I have no idea about his dental skills, but after providing some free (or cut rate) dental work for a geek that couldn't afford it, they voted him Geek of Month.

He lorded it over everybody and was such an insufferably arrogant ass that even the regular geeks hammered and mocked him for it.

As I remember, TV Dinner had a lot of fun with that.
