If found, he'll be taken out the back and we'll put one in his ear.

I definitely suspect , we have a few....

Is there anyway to view who has access to members only section? Is this a Noob/Koi only feature?

An experiment.

This is why my old forum discouraged putting links to something contentious on another forum. Not like it would grant access to someone without the creds but I've sometimes wondered about that.

Only Jim and I can see that feature. The idea of spies is interesting though. Almost all forums can be seen by the public. The few that are not viewable can be seen by members or group members such as this forum and the policy room.

I suspect that someone asked a mod/admin at WUS about the privacy issue and that caused the banning. It has happened at Watchgeeks, WTF and other forums.

Honestly, since when has banning stopped members from joining fora under another ID?

WUS is a sales forum for the most part, and the sponsors do get their panties into a bunch.

Spies? Remember that goof from the (defunct) Renatoe forum who claimed he had his minions monitoring the Members Only section - Jeremy somebody (can't remember his Renatoe username)? Gotta keep an eye on those dangerous Lords - they might say or do anything!

Very true, with one distinction--they are not Lords, they are scum, unfit to even lick our asses!

Quite seriously, I am not comfortable being a member if they are giving third parties access to my details - something Ernie isn't stating can't happen.

In fact his last communication made it sound like it could happen but the onus was on the sponsors not to misuse the data. If that is not the case I wish he would clear things up and address my concerns.

I planned to give him another day. Hopefully he will be transparent on the issue and clean things up if there is a problem. I am more interested in them complying with privacy requirements for the remaining users than in giving WUS any hassle.

If it is like many other forums, sponsored forums, be it Stowa, Rolex etc, may have access to some of your personal information which is used for marketing purposes but is not allowed to be given out to anyone else.

While the header might show up using that link, nothing else does. This forum is member access only.

I agree and I had this discussion a couple of times at WUS and at facebook.

IIRC, Carl got so fucking banned at WUS that if you typed the word "bedlam", all that would show up would be this: ******. It's kind of like the old Cold War days, when an apparatchik fell from favor and went ice fishing in Siberia (or shot), all official photos of them would be airbrushed away.

Whats funny is the 'bedlam' username isn't my main account at WUS. It's a username I was using at several other watch forums and so made an account for it at WUS too. 'bedlam' was banned but I've never stopped posting at WUS.

It'd be funny if they see this and still care enough to spend time trying to work out my other account name so they can ban me again. It would be no real loss as WUS has only become even more shit over time. VerticalScope really does know how to screw up forums.
