Big Jim,

This is what we call the "libertarian's lament": just because we oppose a law prohibiting a thing it is thought that we condone that thing when, in fact, we find it repugnant. If you'll check my post you'll find that I find the consumption of dog abhorrent.

What I also find abhorrent, though to a lesser degree, is cultural chauvinism. Not to worry. My esteemed colleague, founding member and admin has painted himself into a quite non-recoverable corner. We are told he would murder the Chinese dog eaters in similar quantities to their dog consumption. (Yes, we know it's a combination of joke and hyperbole). Being shown that the Swiss also eat dog the choices are to abandon the initial statement or admit that he would similarly (metaphorically) murder as many Swiss and they ate dogs.

Like I said, untenable position. Admitting to only wishing to murder Chinese while the Swiss get away with the same thing would be the same as tattooing "bigot" large across one's forehead.

As far as you're concerned, I hold no ill will toward those that only read part of a post and launch themselves into a reply. It's pretty much woven into the fabric of the internet and few are immune - I know I'm not. But I was quite specific - I neither eat dog nor condone the practice.

Well, shit.

I can't compete with that kind of intellectual repartee. One or two more of those and I may well quite the field.

Just my wild-ass conjecture, and I hope this is concise enough for you, I believe Noob views you as an ally of convenience - irrespective of the number of "+1"s you post, it'll never get to the digital spit-swapping stage.

Go invent another history - I find them entertaining.
Implausible but nonetheless entertaining.

The Peloponnesian wars are virtually untouched and should prove as fertile as Sea-Gull to the imaginative - which you most assuredly are.

That the best you've got?

I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with the unarmed.

Come up with your own stuff, leave Google images to the kindergartners, and tell us what you think.

...assuming you're capable.

Personally, I believe you are - c'mon. At the least I expect another semi-poetic take on the Spanish Inquisition - that bear trap thing was pretty good. The Jesus costume was lame but they can't all be winners.

The whole affair reminds me of Barbarino in Welcome back Kotter but what the hell - a little mud wrestling can be good for the soul.

Now that must have been some serious good eats.

I know they mentioned the taste difference between large and small dogs but I wonder if there is a taste difference between breeds as well? I also wonder whats the best way to cook dog, maybe slow roasted on a spit over an open fire or maybe stewed with some parsnip and radish or deep fried like a frog leg.

I also wonder if like a pig or a cow or a horse if the shoulder is better than the ham and if the snout is any good at all to boil in a soup?

Seriously folks just what is a dog other than just another source of protein.

Dog's are sometimes more then pets, some are treated like family members, so it's kind of hard looking at them like mans best fried fritter instead of friend. But who am I too deny a hungry man a meal, as long as they are bred to eat and are treated and slaughtered humanely. I draw the line at cannibalism or eating someones pet, but whats the harm of raising your own food, as long as a bond isn't formed there's really no harm, how do you think we've survived for so many hundreds of centuries.

The Chinese eat human babies too.
It's in the news recently, they make soup out of babies (for $2K'ish) to increase sexual stamina.
Seriously. I have the link with pictures from a European News site, but I won't post the link -way too disturbing. If you are into the absurd, then google it.

EDIT Update : not only Soup, but now grinding them into Pill format.
This is on Gizmodo today (Aug 5, 2011 12:53 PM)

Seriously.

LoL Thats what illeterate Ethiopians thought when Gerbers tried to branch out to Africa hahaha I had fried bull balls once at an Argentinian restaurant, the waiters said the same thing about it increasing your sexual stamina. I could see a guy wanting to have the prowess of an alpha male, but why would anyone in the world want to have the sex drive of a baby just blows my mind.

Welcome to Urban Legends: Eating Babies Edition

(and Snopes)

For real people eating: Geoffrey Dahmer was the top of the food chain...but he wasn't Chinese, and neither were the folks in the Donner Party, and neither were the 5 other folks listed here.

I'm sure you meant 15,000 a week, the motherfuckers multiply in a way that put rabbits to shame.

I really don't understand why no one else around here calls you two out loud and clear in plain language on the obviously bigoted bullshit you present here.

I guess I'll have to take some solace in the fact that the safer you two feel around here, the safer you feel dropping the shallow pretense that this is about watch movement quality or intellectual property...or even dogs...any more.

Those are just excuses you use to camouflage what the quotes above prove to be the simple truth: what you two really bring to this conversation is just gutter-class racism, and both of you are plainly too ethically crippled to even be ashamed of yourselves enough to keep it hidden any more:

Now we have one of you openly bragging about wanting to kill 15,000 human beings, and the other openly and jokingly upping the ante to 15,000 a week with a dehumanizing comparison of Chinese people to rabbits.

I might expect garbage like this on a KKK or white supremacist site (and to be tolerated or excused on a KKK or supremacist site), but this is a watch forum, fer chrissakes.

The lack of open and loud condemnation around here when it comes to the type of patently racist drivel I've quoted above from you two is _exactly_ the same kind of disgraceful spectator silence that allowed thugs like Hitler and Pol Pot time and opportunity enough to gather up enough bandwagon-jumping thugs to murder millions. So I'm not gonna be quiet.

I'm here to let you know that the silence that has kept you safe up till now is over. I wouldn't tolerate this kind of spew about gay folks or any other ethnic or racial group and I'm not planning on leaving you alone just because your target is Chinese.

Albertatime you goin to be in china this year. This is goin to help what to expect while you there.
I have been living in China for the past few months, and I thought I would write about some of my observations.
Beijing and Shanghai are probably a little more civilized, but here are my impressions of the smaller cities.
I guess the most notable thing about living here is the disgustingly low level of hygiene.
This generalization does not apply to all the people , of course, but it does apply to many of the Chinese.
The people will make horrifically loud nose and throat clearing sounds, and then spit anywhere and everywhere. The floors in hotels and restaurants are coated in snot, there is spit everywhere.
Many hotel rooms are carpeted, but I have yet to see one that is not stained with spit. Snot rockets are very common.
Public restrooms are filthy, more disgusting than anything I have ever seen in the Philippines, Cambodia, or Thailand. It is just not possible to describe how nasty they are.
Public urination and defecation is common. I have seen men , women, and children taking a dump in public .

Now you know why most Chinese restaurants in your city are so dirty, especially the restrooms. The Chinese just do not place a very high priority on cleanliness.

Bad breath is epidemic. The Chinese like to stand very close to you when they speak to you, and the breath on most of them will make you nauseous.

A few weeks ago I went to visit a Supplier in Guangdong province. I took the bus from Shenzhen as I was too cheap to go by taxi. The distance to the factory was about 100 miles.
After riding in the bus for about 1 hour, I smelled that something weird was going on in the back of the bus. A guy who looked like a construction worker on the way back to his province...

...unfolded a newspaper on the floor
...dropped his pants
...took a dump
...folded the newspaper
...threw the newspaper out of the window

I almost puked, but nobone else, even the people sitting on the right and on the left of where it took place, seemed to feel annoyed in any way.  Thank god in 1 weeks I'm leaving this shithole.

Thanks for the heads up but I think I'll survive OK. I've seen enough similar stuff at Main and Hastings...but the folks weren't Chinese.
