The Final Fall Charity Auction!

Post by conjurer » July 12th 2019, 3:59pm

Well, it's been a long time since last fall, when these things started; I've been a little busy lately, and so have been a slacker getting these things done. But now, we've come to the end!

As before, half the proceeds of this auction will go to Shriner's Hospitals for Children; the rest will go for upkeep for this forum and the new BDWF. Here are the rules, please read them: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=43368

First up:

Cool PO Homage

A nice automatic version of the Planet Ocean that looks really nice. The name on the caseback and dial is Paulareis, or something. One good point is the HE release valve appears to be welded on, so this is an improvement over the original Omega. The case measures 46mm, 49mm with crown, 51mm lug to lug, 15.5mm thick. The lug width is 22mm. Comes on a very nice stitched rubber strap. No box or papers.

This is being a lot, all of these watches need batteries (in the case of the Vostok Scuba Dude, a service). Some of these arrived this way, others ran out since I've had them, and I haven't had time to buy batteries and crack 'em open, which I'm not very good at, anyway. These include some very well known TV brands (32 Degrees! Croton!!) as well as some other fine brands. If you want to get your loupe on, this is the way to go. (If any members have questions about particular items in this lot, please PM me or post here.)

Seiko Recraft

Here's a pretty one, a Seiko Recraft, a throwback model fitted with a fine throwback movement, the 7S26! You want a big-ass Seiko without shelling out plenty of dough for a Marinemaster, this one is for you. 46mm across, 48mm with crown, 50.5mm lug-to-lug, 11.5mm thick. In true Seiko fashion, the lug width is 20mm. Comes on very nice gray leather strap that appears unused, along with original bracelet, box and papers.

And, finally:

Bulova Accutron Six-Eater

Here's a fine Bullie, with the same movement as you'd find in a Panerai Brooklyn Bridge--with probably the same level of decoration, too. Nice pressed dial, gold numericals, gold plated crown, sapphire crystal--this is a seriously nice watch. 42mm across, 46mm with crown, 49mm lug to lug, 12mm thick, 20mm lug width. Comes without box, papers or extra links--there's probably enough to fit up to a seven inch wrist, or you could throw the fucker onto a nice gator strap and still get plenty of trim.

So, that's the lot. This auction will end at 8:00PM Pacific time on Saturday, July 20. Bid early, bid often, and remember, these auctions benefit sick kids and the forums we love!

In that case I will happily donate another 20

I'd be happy to do this, assuming there's a carrier who doesn't require a return address.

Just put 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, DC as the return address.

It has been pointed out to me by a respected member via PM that the box o' watches being sent to he who shall not be named could be seen as a demeaning gesture, not only to said recipient, but also to the meaning of these auctions, and, more importantly, to those members who donated watches.

I would tend to agree with my PM interlocutor. If any member wishes to donate to the Shriners Hospitals for Children (or the forum) they are certainly welcome to; if they PM me, I would be happy to send them my paypal addy and roll all funds up for a final sendoff to the sick kids.

Because of this, let's reset the box o' watches to zero, and continue the auction forthwith:

Recraft: $25, koi

Bullie: $60, monster623az

PO Homage: $10, Officer Mark

Box 'O Watches: no bids.

If there are no bids on the box o' watches, I will donate them to a suitable charity. Let it be known that the contents of the box came from several different donors, and most of the quartz watches ran down due to my own dilatory running of these auctions.
