WL Fall Charity Auction--REVERSE AUCTION! WINNER!!

Post by conjurer » October 18th 2018, 3:29pm

OK, so we've all had some fun and some jolly good laughs. For this particular auction we're going to try something even more fucking fun--a reverse auction! Like the previous auctions, half the proceeds will go to fund the forum and the other half to help out Shriners Hospitals for Children (https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc). But this one is different. And fucking fun.

First off, the teasers:

Watches That Need Batteries:

Included are three ladies watches (in a box!!) plus a Casio Waveceptor. The winner of this auction will get these, plus a piece of beautiful fine art:

Plus--and here's the fucking fun part--a secret watch, which will be revealed only at the end of the auction!

The rules: This auction will end immediately when somebody grabs the watches that need batteries (these alone are probably worth at least $1.4 million), the fine art, and the mystery watch. The auction will start with a set price, which will be $400, and will decrease by $25 a day, for four days, or until somebody chimes in with "I'll take it." At this point the auction will end, and the big reveal will occur.

If nobody grabs it by the time the price drops to $300, on Monday, October 22, then I will reveal the mystery watch, and then a standard auction will begin, for all the watches and fine art, and run until Saturday, October 27, 8:00PM Pacific time. The $300 low price will be the reserve price, and all bids will have to start there.

Regarding the value of the mystery watch--all I can say is that I've looked all over the web for the same watch's history at various FS posts and ebay auctions, and I can pretty well state that whoever grabs it between $300-$400 will be made whole. However, to make things fair, if the winner is unhappy with the mystery watch as the price is dropping between now and Monday, Oct. 22, we will revert to a standard auction as I've outlined above. Sale is final. Some of you stupid bastards might recall the first reverse auction we had a couple of years ago, and we had a ton of fucking fun.

So there you have it--this could be the shortest auction in WLs history, or it could drag out. It's up to you.

And so, we begin. Today's price for me to show my hand and win the mystery watch (plus the other watches, and fine art) is $400.

Have at it!

At what point does the next days price drop occur? When it's tomorrow here it isn't tomorrow yet on the west coast. Is there a standard being used here or can an Aussie chime in now for 375? Asking for strategic reasons only.

Due to my work schedule, I will drop the price in the morning, probably around 8:00AM Pacific time, each day. That should put the kabosh on the Australians.
