WL Spring Charity Auction 5--Ball Exploding!!

Post by conjurer » March 2nd 2017, 4:29pm

Right, then, let's get this fucking show on the road. Number five in the WL Spring Charity auctions to raise funds for both forum upkeep as well as St. Judes Children's Hospital https://www.stjude.org/ is ready to begin. As usual, a quarter of the funds will go to the forum, with the balance going to St. Judes. First up:

Magico Big Ass Carbon Fiber Dial Watch

This dates back to when TeeVee wartche sales were fun and daft--I believe this brand was sold by Lior ben-Schmuel at WoW on Urine. Surprisingly well made, these were hot some years ago. 45mm across, 48mm with crown, 14.5mm thick, this baby is dripping with carbon fiber, including bracelet links. Inside is the blast from the past Miyota 8215 automatic movement. It's cool, it's big, it'll get you laid. In very fine condition, includes boxes. The last time one of these very rare timepieces came up for sale it went for 178,000 euros at Sotheby's!

Bulova Accutron II Snorkel

Ref. #96B210, this is the Precisionist quartz movement reissue of the famous Bullie Snorkel. 43mm across, 48mm diagonal with crown, 13.5mm thick. This is one of the first Precisionist models that didn't look nutty. Very cool smooth sweep hand, internal revolving diver's bezel, nice bracelet. This one appears BNIB and unworn. It's even WR to 200 meters! One of the nicest donations I've seen to these auctions, after the moon watch reissue, this is the coolest thing Bullie's done in quite a while. Includes box.

Casio G-Shock MTGM900

This one is going to direct ship to the winner from the donor. His notes:

Purchased at WL in 2016, worn a handful of times. Solar charge lasts for months. All papers, boxes and removed links included. Can easily fit a 8 1/2" wrist; however, the case size is small enough to make this one a winner for females, too.

It's a fucking Gee. And everyone knows, you can't go wrong with a fucking Gee.

Invicta 2737

A big hunk of stainless steel, this one is a true conversation piece. 36mm across, 45mm lug to lug, 13.5mm thick, this is one of the rare Invicters that surprisingly wearable. Swiss quartz movement, pretty nice leather strap. You know somebody who wants a big-ass fashion watch? Here you go! These are rare; the last one to sell was in 2010 in London, for 1.5 million Swiss Franks--OK, I kid, but it's a nice one from when Invicta could actually make a decent watch. It's also got the cool crown at the top right corner, which you don't see every day!

Omega Seamaster Chrono Diver

As you can guess, this one's the star of the whole shebang. Ref. #2298.80.00, all titanium, 300m WR, Swiss made, comes with box (which is, not surprisingly, disintegrating), inside red box, papers, receipts, extra link, and all cards. There are marks on the sides of the case (which my poor pictures don't show) along with some wear on the bracelet. The watch has been serviced at some point (parts are included as well), but service history (as well as timing, etc.) are unknown. This one will cost extra in shipping due to high insurance cost.

So, there you have it; here're the rules.

This auction will run until Friday, 10 March, ending precisely at 8:00PM Pacific time. All sales final. Please include $10 to the winning bid to cover shipping (Omega will cost extra, I have to look into it). Winners to donate 25% of the winning bid to the forum, the rest (plus shipping) to me, and I'll forward the proceeds to St. Judes. I will ship the watches to the winners via USPS Priority Insured (if necessary) ASAP after the end of the auction, probably the beginning of the following week (the donor of the Casio Gee will ship upon agreed terms with winner). Paypal only for payment, please. PM bids are OK, send them to me and I'll update the thread. Chat, ball-breaking, bon mots and other posts are fine but keep it bid only during the final hour of the auction.

Have fun!
