WL Spring Charity Auction 4--Kewl Stuff!!

Post by conjurer » February 17th 2017, 4:29pm

Time for another auction GODAM it. As before, 75% of the proceeds will go to support St. Jude's Children's Hospital: https://www.stjude.org/ and the rest for the upkeep of this here forum. Shall we get started? I think that we shall!

Seiko Sportura Black IP Perpetual Calendar Solar SSC373:

This one's fucking solar, with sapphire crystal, leap year, 100m WR, 45mm across and 12mm thick (manufacturer's specs; this one is still in the hands of the donor, who will mail it out to the winner of the auction.) This is the type of watch that Seiko does better than anybody else on the planet--a moderately priced quartz chrono. And, it's fucking solar. Donor tells me the bracelet is unsized and unused, comes with box and papers.

Luminox 3050/3950:

Navy SEALs version--which should remind you of somebody we all know--this watch is made of fucking carbon. Yup, fucking carbon. Quartz movement, Swiss made, it's also got those radioactive tubes on it that make it possible to see it in the dark (and also make all you pubes fall off, which for most of us is something of a blessing.) 43.75mm across, 48mm with crown, 14mm thick. No box or papers, aftermarket strap. 200m WR, too, so a great beater. This one's seen a little action over it's life, but still looks good, with some wear marks on the case.

Xemex Offroad No.1:

37mm (across) of Swiss-made quartz coolness; a very nice, dressy watch (which the donor tells me needs a new battery--although its ticking right now--but the donor will reimburse winner for battery change costs). Notes from the donor:

Has the box and an SWI card, the box looks like something was spilled on it, it's a long cardboard box that says xemex. It will come on the leather band it came with (stamped xemex on the back of thE band, cant see in picture). I didn't wear this band, the person before me did, but not much. If someone has to have the bracelet that is shown, it is a Glycine bracelet that I got a lot of 5 of off ebay. Some gave feedback saying the bracelet is fake, the guy swears it's real and said it's vintage. It is lightweight and comfortable, but cheap feeling. I will send an unused bracelet with a strand of extra links.
This is a quartz, the hand doesn't sweep, it ticks big time, not a noisy tick, but a visual slow tick.

40mm with crown, 8mm thick. It comes with original packaging along with very nice three-slot Andriod watch box (shown in first picture.) Also, a great gift for the ladies, so take that into account, you cheap bastards.

Bulova Accutron Automatic Chronograph:

This one appears to be an out-of-production model, ref. #C8671373. A big bruiser of a watch, 45mm across, 48mm with crown, 14mm thick, Swiss made, with what appears to be a 7750 movement inside. Case and bracelet show minor wear. Comes with leather strap and mesh bracelet (shown in top pic), both appear to be aftermarket. Also comes with extra links for both stock and mesh bracelet. Comes with modest Bullie box (not fitted). If you've ever wanted a mechanical chronograph, here you go. Sapphire crystal, 50m WR.

OK, on to the rules:

The auction will run until next Friday, 24 February, ending at 8:00PM Pacific time. To bid, either post in this thread or PM me for anonymous bid. High bid wins. Ask all questions you might have here in this thread or via PM with me. All sales final. Payment via Paypal only, unless other methods are approved by me via PM. READ THIS NEXT PART CLOSELY, IT IS IMPORTANT: Winners to send 75% of the winning bid (plus postage for the watch) to me, and send the remaining 25% to Alain via the "Donate" button on the top right of each page here at WLs. This means you stupid bastards will need to head down to Radio Shack and buy yourselves a $5 calculator to figure it out. I will then forward proceeds to St. Jude's via Paypal. As postage has been biting into my income, I shall ask winners to include $10 with the winning bids they send to me to cover USPS Priority shipping. International members--i.e. forreners--can bid, but please PM me first because postage will be higher.

So there you have it--bid early, bid often, and have fun!

Saturday Night bumpski. The bids thus far:

Seiko, $100, biglove

Bullie, $110.99, Thunder1

Luminox, $70, Kahuna74

Xemex, $30, TemerityB.

Please note: the donor of the Luminox informed me via PM that he had replaced the battery (which was dead) in the Lumi before sending it off, and it was running funky, so he figured it might be an older battery. The watch seems to be running OK to me, but the winner may have to spring for a new battery fairly soon. Please take this into account when making bids, and if anybody wants to back out of their bid, please PM me and I'll take care of it. Thanks!
