What Watch Brands Think of You

Post by bbattle » December 15th 2024, 7:09pm

In a reversal, this reviewer discusses the different types of watch enthusiasts, what they want out of a watch, what a watch says about them and how watch brands think of their buyers.

For example, he says Rolex buyers are viewed as being low information, low interest. What he means is that everyone "knows" that Rolex is a very good watch, no need to dive into the minutiae of why they are good, just buy one and you won't be disappointed. It doesn't mean there aren't Rolex fans that are high information, high interest; it means Rolex doesn't market to them.

On the other hand, JLC feels they have high information buyers. If you are going to plunk down for a Perpetual Calendar, then you want to know all the details of every piece of that watch.

Anyways, I thought it interesting enough to share.

I like that Corum Rolls-Royce grill watch… but I can’t imagine ever wearing one. It’s an abuse of the pantheon derived grill.
I'd wear it. You know I would.

Nope. The Parthenon was robbed by Lord Elgin, who stole the marble sculptures of the frieze in the early 1800s and sent them to the British Museum, where they reside to this day. Naturally, this doesn't sit well with the modern Greeks, although there are those who would argue that the Elgin marbles are better preserved in the UK than they would be by the greaseballs Greeks, who probably would have let them succomb to acid rain or looters and shit. At any rate, this makes Lord Elgin the ultimate shitheel, and I wouldn't like looking at my wrist to see the Parthenon on my wrist and have to deal with any of this fucking shit whilst trying to tell the time. I've got enough in my life trying to fuck up my cosmic karma and Sew fourth.
