on the wrist today and some appreciation
I've been wearing my Big Pilot since Saturday. I hadn't worn it in a while and it's given me the chance to appreciate why I bought it. It's such a well made watch. I think this watch is from sometime before 2010. I believe I purchased it sometime in 2015, don't know the service history, but I haven't had it serviced and it's still keeping +3s/day. Of course now that I say that, I've probably jinxed myself and will now need to service it.
Just wanted to share my favorite part, it's the movement. First off it's 8 days and I'm always amazed how easy and quickly it self winds, meaning that when I wear it the power reserve quickly reaches 8 days and stays there for the most part. The other part I love about the movement is how quickly the hour hand moves around for every turn of the crown. Makes setting really quick, I did a rough experiment and it seems to turn 2 hours for every spin of the crown. Maybe it's just the crown size, but I don't think so. Anyway just sharing some thoughts on this watch.
This picture is from 2015 and it pretty much looks the same.
I even realized I still have stickers on it.
