There are plenty of micros doing retro-styled mecha-quartz chronos. Seiko might even do something that fits the bill. It might be hard to find these for US$220 but it would be worth the extra, to me.
LOLGlyvicta
Me, too.32771 wrote: ↑June 16th 2023, 1:27pm+1jason_recliner wrote: ↑June 15th 2023, 3:20pmI wouldn't buy it because 1) it's an Invicta and 2) I find non-mecha quartz chronos annoying.

Indeed...
It is a good looking chrono but waiting for the hands to reset before you can use it again severely limits the usefulness and pleasure of non-mechaquartz chronos.
That looks really good. The 'review' cracked me up:pauliedoggs wrote: ↑June 24th 2023, 2:06pmI own this one.

It has a Seiko VK63 meca-quartz with a running sub-seconds hand at 6 o’clock. I like the Hemel designs too but they don’t have the running seconds—I like to know if my watch is ticking at a glance.
I’ve only owned one Glycine and it was decent. I’ve only owned one Invicta and it was just OK.
For me, it's less about the physical quality of the watch, more about giving Eyal my hard earned $$$. But yeah, I agree with you. The watches are good; if you don't care about Invicta ownership, you're unlikely to go wrong with one. But I also stand by my assertion that non mechaquartz chronos are a pain in the botty (I used 'botty' in Scrabble the other nightNuvolari wrote: ↑June 25th 2023, 9:36pmFuck these haters - Glycine is not Invicta. They bought it? Bummer… but there is no discernible difference since their acquisition by the worlds worst wartch company. Good on them, apparently, because they didn’t fuck it up, which seemed like a sure thing.
I’m more of a fan of their automatic mechanical movements - but Glycine delivers a solid product comparable in quality to Seiko or Orient. (Which many of these dudes also won’t wear…)
Buy what you like, right? But Glycine will deliver the watch you are expecting to receive…. not a yellow shitbox of surprises.
Yep, good on them.
Scrabble has changed, man! The Scrabble dictionary now has heaps of slang. I don't remember it being like that in the 80s. Turns out pretty much any combination of 4 or 5 consonants and vowels means something to somebody somewhere! Botty is English, by the way. We say 'bum'!Nuvolari wrote: ↑June 26th 2023, 8:50amYour principle-centered gripe is legit, though by the time I buy one “gently used” or maybe a new one deeply discounted on Joma or Ashford that dude isn’t getting enough from me to buy a fractional share of ownership in a small bag of stale pretzels.
‘Botty’ was accepted without protest!? What’s up with that Aussie dictionary? Cause that‘s just a slang word for your Special Area!![]()
UK English, that is. US version is booty. Also, slang for valuable stolen goods.jason_recliner wrote: ↑June 26th 2023, 3:24pmScrabble has changed, man! The Scrabble dictionary now has heaps of slang.
