I wouldn't buy it because 1) it's an Invicta and 2) I find non-mecha quartz chronos annoying.

There are plenty of micros doing retro-styled mecha-quartz chronos. Seiko might even do something that fits the bill. It might be hard to find these for US$220 but it would be worth the extra, to me.

Well, I'll weigh in here just for the chance to bash Invicta. Old habits and hatred die hard.
Glycine used to be decent and the $219 price seems in keeping with Invictrash offerings. If you want to be a sucker, go ahead. Just know all of us here will be laughing at you!
Okay, cruel barbs and Invicta aside, it looks like a nice watch at the cost of 10 double-stack burgers, fries and drinks at Five Guys where it will proclaim: This Dude Is Manly & Cool to all the customers tucking into their treats.
If YOU like it, go for it!!!!

Indeed...

However this 2 bills helps pay for the fuel of a company jet, yacht, and commensurate lifestyle acquired prior to this acquisition with the proceeds of a massive and longstanding fraud.

Despite this not being a MechaQuartz, it's still a good looking chrono and you can do a lot worse for $200.
It is a good looking chrono but waiting for the hands to reset before you can use it again severely limits the usefulness and pleasure of non-mechaquartz chronos.

I own this one.

https://watchgauge.com/collections/drak ... lack-steel

https://www.drakenwatches.com/shop/kruger/kruger-black/

It has a Seiko VK63 meca-quartz with a running sub-seconds hand at 6 o’clock. I like the Hemel designs too but they don’t have the running seconds—I like to know if my watch is ticking at a glance.

I’ve only owned one Glycine and it was decent. I’ve only owned one Invicta and it was just OK.

That looks really good. The 'review' cracked me up:

"Haven't received it yet but don't have to have it in my hand to tell you about the quality. FABULOUS."

Fuck these haters - Glycine is not Invicta. They bought it? Bummer… but there is no discernible difference since their acquisition by the worlds worst wartch company. Good on them, apparently, because they didn’t fuck it up, which seemed like a sure thing.

I’m more of a fan of their automatic mechanical movements - but Glycine delivers a solid product comparable in quality to Seiko or Orient. (Which many of these dudes also won’t wear…)

Buy what you like, right? But Glycine will deliver the watch you are expecting to receive…. not a yellow shitbox of surprises.

For me, it's less about the physical quality of the watch, more about giving Eyal my hard earned $$$. But yeah, I agree with you. The watches are good; if you don't care about Invicta ownership, you're unlikely to go wrong with one. But I also stand by my assertion that non mechaquartz chronos are a pain in the botty (I used 'botty' in Scrabble the other night  ).

Your principle-centered gripe is legit, though by the time I buy one “gently used” or maybe a new one deeply discounted on Joma or Ashford that dude isn’t getting enough from me to buy a fractional share of ownership in a small bag of stale pretzels.

‘Botty’ was accepted without protest!? What’s up with that Aussie dictionary? Cause that‘s just a slang word for your Special Area! 😆

We should all be most appreciative that the most shit stain company in this time-telling wrist worn jewelry hobby didn't screw up this lower to mid tier brand.

Nope, that is something to celebrate it is

Scrabble has changed, man! The Scrabble dictionary now has heaps of slang. I don't remember it being like that in the 80s. Turns out pretty much any combination of 4 or 5 consonants and vowels means something to somebody somewhere! Botty is English, by the way. We say 'bum'!

UK English, that is. US version is booty. Also, slang for valuable stolen goods.
