Franck Dubarry Crazy Balls Watch

Post by svaglic » August 25th 2022, 5:11pm

Anyone here ever seen one of these?
Opinions?
It’s odd to me, I’m not sure, but I think they are saying the magnetic balls clanging around are a complication.
Magnetic balls? Aren’t magnets supposed to be kept away from watches?
I was interested in the 282.001 Quartz with in-house mechanical module. Sounded interesting to me. I kept looking around for the complication they speak of and it looks like it’s the magnetic balls. I don’t think I would like magnetic bb’s rolling around on the wrist, maybe it’s not noticeable.
Joma Shop lists this, and other places do too, as a luxury watch. I’m not seeing it as that.

A woman’s watch is 42mm?
What am I missing here?

Seems to be a lot of smoke and mirrors associated with this brand. I looked in to them a while back, thought it might be a Jomashop house brand.

You're absolutely correct - magnetised balls rolling around is not any kind of complication. On the other hand, who wouldn't want to wear a watch called Crazy Balls

"Marvel at the magnetic force that pulls each one back into place, marking each hour on the dial."

Dubois-Depraz movements (at least in some of his watches). It's the TechnoMarine guy...

TechnoMarine, say no more.
The movement sounded interesting, supposedly it is an in-house, but I can’t find anything about the movement.
The watch may be made to handle being a magnet, but I couldn’t keep it near my other watches.
I was interested for the in-house movement, but that came and went.

Not seeing anything that would justify the supposed RRPs. For 10k (in sensible 2017 dollars) you'd think the strap would be crocodile leather with a rubber base, not polyurethane (it's not even natural rubber) with a croc imprint. What a croc of...
